Oceanwatch room numbers

Does anyone know how to confirm the "view" of a room at Oceanwatch based on the room number?

The intitials will be OF=ocean front; OS=oceanside;OV=ocean view (Floors 10-15 in back bldg.;GV=garden view (floors1-9 in back bldg.) Check previous posts for the way the best views are assigned based on OW ownership, Marriott owenship, etc. Room numbers simply denote the bldg. and floor. We were just in 2085 which was the Scallop bldg. # 2 bldg, on the 8th floor, odd #'s are to the north side. Hope this helps

We own oceanside, so we usually try for either the 5th or 7th floor with the balcony facing the pool. The balconies on the odd floors are bigger than the even floors. We were in 2072 (7th floor,balcony facing south and the pool) in the Scallop Building a couple of weeks ago. We've been in 2074, 2076, and 2096 before and they're all great views. The 9th floor (2096) was great BUT is an "open" balcony, so if you want shade, don't request the 9th floor. Hope that helps.

The first digit in the room number is building. The next two digits are the floor and the last digit is the room number. I believe the evens (2,4,6) are pool view and the odds (1,3,5) are outside views in building 1 and 2 and 7,8,9are OF with 8 being poolside, 9 middle, and 7 outside. All of building 3 is OF. I don't know how building 4 works.

That's EXACTLY what I was looking for. So, if a bldg #1 unit ends in 7,8,or 9, it's OF.

Since room selection is done later, it shouldn't matter which exact unit is on the deed, right? You're never guaranteed "your" unit, only the view... correct?

Bldg. numbers 1 and 2 both have ocean front rooms that are directly over the beach. They also have ocean view down the sides (still a great view.) Bldg. 3 is back from the beach, but looks out to the front over the main pool area before you see the ocean. All bldg 3 views are designated as ocean front, but they are obviously not as good as the ones closer to the ocean. If you look at a layout of the grounds, this should make more sense to you. Your confirmation numbers should have the initials as explained above, but remember traders from outside Marriott rank the lowest when it comes to room assignments. It doesn't hurt to ask for what you want, however.

Actually, the villas on the sides of Buildings 1 and 2 are classified as Oceanside views. The Oceanview villas are the top 5 floors of Building 4 (the back building) and the top 10 floors of Building 5 (construction just begun).

You're all way ahead of me, from the perspective of requesting a particular room. I'm actually trying to choose between two OF resale units with different prices. Is one OF unit just as good as any other OF unit (on the deed), or is there ANY benefit in having having a more desirable unit listed on the deed?

As long as you are absolutely sure that both units are Oceanfront then the unit # means nothing. it is only assigned to keep track of inventory and for legal purposes on the deed. The chances are slim that you would ever be assigned "your" unit # when you stay at Ocean Watch. Assignments are made based on the particular view that a owner has.
