Hi,

We will be staying at Oceanside Harbor next week. We rented the week through the tug boards. We are so excited! My four boys can hardly contain themselves, they can't wait to see Legoland!

Anyway, I was wondering if anyone had any good advice about maximizing our week there in Oceanside, especially at the resort. I think our room has already been assigned, but should we make the effort to call and request a specific area of the resort? We are a family of 6 and want to make it a really great week, so any advice would be appreciated!

Thanks in advance! :whoopie:

8, 5, 5 (twins) and 4....

I'm thinking we'll hit legoland, the aquarium and some of the museums in Balboa park. We can't wait!

It has been 80 degrees today here. Do they like train rides? Oceanside has a huge train depot and one train (Amtrak) can take you all down to San Diego where you could walk the Marina, view/board a tall ship, take a boat to Coronado Island, etc. The train ride is about an hour.

While at Legoland, be sure to let all the kids do the Driving School cars if they still have that ride. The kids take a 'driving class', get a license and then drive little cars (not on a track). They have to obey redlights, etc. My grandboys loved that ride.

Consider Seaworld at the north end of San Diego. The Ruben Fleet Space Museum in Balboa Park is a hands on science museum with an IMAX and a great store also.

Search the archives for Carlsbad

Do a search on this thread for Carlsbad and you will find a lot more suggestions - Carlsbad is the next town over and since it has six timeshares, there have been a lot of Carlsbad postings. Have fun. Funtime

Explore the US Midway

The boys might like to explore the US Midway - an actual aircraft carrier from World War II. You get to climb all over it including into the mess hall and bunk bed area and then onto the flight deck. It is at the harbor in San Diego. Funtime
