Here at Ocean Pointe this week. Still figuring out how we want to travel for the winters. Stayed at Oceana Palms last week. Very posh and beautiful, as it was last winter. We are finding Ocean Pointe to be more of a diverse age group , even at this time of year, and far more activities. Much more energy here and lots to do in the Palm Gardens area and Jupiter. Have met so may people here and loving it!:whoopie:

Be sure to go drift fishing on the Blue Heron II. Docks on the other side of the waterway under the bridge on Blue Heron Parkway.

I have said many times that diverse tastes are what makes life interesting and I know many people love Ocean Pointe. I respect that, but personally I rank Ocean Pointe #27 of the 30 MVCI resorts I have stayed at. Not even close to Oceana Palms.

We have been to this resort twice and we thought that the resort was great. The surrounding areas was a little disappointment. You ranked this resort #27, would you rank the Manor Club in Williamsburg, VA?

Ocean Pointe is great. Oceana is nice but the pool area is way, way too small. There isn't close to enough room for splashing kids and adults that don't like kids around.

Agree.

We prefer Ocean Pointe due to it's many pools and activities on a much larger footprint. It is very expansive. Maybe one day MVC will come to an agreement to purchase the pink hotel, making the resort footprint complete end to end.

Oceana Palms is a higher quality resort with much nicer villas. No doubt about that. However, it has a much smaller resort footprint with less space and fewer activities.

To each their own. Either is still great, just different feels to each resort.

It is unlikely to happen. The problem is that it is not a hotel. If it were they would have bought it right away. It is a condo with many individual owners. They likely need a 100% vote to sell. Not sure when their HOA renewal date is but only then will it be slightly easier to sell but I'm not sure if MVCI will still want to buy it for the asking price.

This came from a sales rep, so there is no telling if it is true. The rep indicated that Marriott approached the condo owners when they were building Ocean Pointe and they wanted $1,000,000 per unit. I don't know how many units there were, but for a piece of land and a structure they would surely tear down, there would be no profit to be made.

We have also been to both. Definitely Oceana Palms has better views. Ocean Pointe has better pools. We liked Oceana Palms, but continue to go back to Ocean Pointe. Much more of a resort feel IMO.

There are 68 units of various sizes on 6 floors from a 1BR to a 3BR penthouse. I think it boiled down to owners not wanting to sell but if they were to sell it would have to be at that price. It would only take one owner to nix the deal so the owner least wanting to sell likely set the bar. $1,000,000 as a takeover price for the Penthouse units is not far fetched but $68,000,000 total is too high. How many units per main building? Definitely would have been a loss.

Marriott probably needed to buy the lot for $20,000,000 but at that price it's only $300k average per owner. No way you get a 100% vote for that price. It has always seemed like they stood firm and wouldn't sell but after looking at the numbers I don't think the deal ever had a chance.
