Ocean Oak and HHI - Info Requested

We have our first trip to Ocean Oak at the end of August. It's also our first time on Hilton Head Island. I'm looking for insider information that anyone would like to share on the resort itself, things to do on HHI and the surrounding area, and good dining options. There hasn't been a thread that I could find in the last couple of years so I figured I would ask to tap into the collective experience.

We are a Tuesday to Tuesday time period so that should address the biggest complaint I have seen in the forum of the traffic challenges of getting in and out with everyone else on Saturday.

I'll also share that we are traveling as just a couple with possibly our adult age kids joining for some of the week, so our focus is more grown-up activities than entertaining little ones. We also don't golf, aside from the mini variety.

We go to Ocean Oak, twice a year since it has opened about 10 years ago. I tell our friends who we invite that we do three things at Ocean Oak, ride bikes, go to the beach and go to the pool. We do the same thing every day just in a different order. I agree with @Reddart suggestion to rent bikes there. There are many bike rental companies which will deliver and pick up the bikes at OO (you can PM me if you would like to know the company which I use but there are numerous ones on the island). If you want room request suggestions, you can PM me with your room booking type (I did put some good information in the resort Sticky for OO). I also have saved the thread which @conci9999 has posted on my computer.

I agree with @GT75 above, but if you are looking for more, there’s plenty.

• While we take advantage of the full kitchen in our unit, there’s so many great places to eat. It’s one of the best foodie spots in the east coast.
• Go to Savannah for the day and buy a trolley pass. It takes you on a loop around the city and it’s hop off/hop on. There a bunch to see and getting it all in a day is tough. If you stay around during the evening, there’s are numerous ghost tours that give the history of the city as well.
• If you like history, there’s Museum of the Mighty Eighth is fantastic. It’s the best aviation museum outside of the Dayton Air Force Museum and the Smithsonian. In some ways it’s better as it’s more interactive.

There’s more, but the real deal is the relaxation just being on the island. Incredible, love the resort and location.

On the other hand, it’s a horrible resort and a terrible beach. No one should want to go there. Too boring. If you cancel your week there, let me know. I’m marking it down for, erm . . . research.

I agree, tell everyone how horrible this resort is. (But maybe I am one of the few who love this resort and have been trying to get resale through ROFR)
