It was announced yesterday that most of the Outer Banks of NC have been closed to tourists:

"The control group said they would establish checkpoints at entry points to the county to ensure that only permanent residents, "essential" personnel, such as government or medical workers, those who work at critical businesses, such as pharmacies, groceries or gas stations, and those who are property owners would be allowed in."

No info on the length of the closure... However, "property owners" would be allowed in, so the question is do timeshare owners qualify?

Edit to add that I have added a link to the original Dare County statement ya gotta prove you own property:

Wow. I wonder whether other island communities with limited access and popular with tourists will follow suit.

In the past, during post-hurricane closures in Dare County, timeshare owners with their deeds in their possession to prove ownership have been allowed through the roadblocks, but clearly that would not work for exchangers or renters.

Ocracoke Island is now also closed to new visitors by the Hyde County board of commissioners. Unlike the Dare County order, the ban does not apply to the mainland portion of the county. In both counties, few tourists visit the mainland.
