Obesity can complicate the course of COVID-19. Now, a new study says it can also reduce the effectiveness of COVID vaccines.

The researchers also found that the two vaccines used in their study triggered different levels of immune responses in severely obese people. They found, too, that prior infection had an impact.

Have you seen this year's Sports Illustrated swimsuit model? Our new overlords want us to believe that obesity is normal.

I though the ministry of truth and misinformation was disbanded or at least paused?

I suppose for the quintessential dumb jocks SI is an overlord. Most of us, though, recognize it as simply a sports media outlet - with its annual swimsuit issue lately, thankfully!, reflecting a less-misogynistic view of females. Isn't that a good thing considering that the athletic world is populated by many strong women who aren't six-feet-tall-designer-sample-size-0 models, who used to exclusively be on the pages of the SI swimsuit issues?

Anyway, there are a few participants in this forum who make the case repeatedly that obesity is, in fact, "normal" in the US population - if you define normal as being statistically commonplace. I'm not getting into whether it's good or bad (other than acknowledging that it is a proven comorbidity for COVID-19) but only saying, it is a normality in our population. Why shouldn't that be reflected in our entertainment media?

OMG - another boringly, uninteresting and tiresome response from, Team Fauci. Blatantly reliable purveyors of disinformation.

Your spelling, "mis-information", is interesting. Would that be the, "Leftist Language" manner of spelling? :ponder:

Worth noting:
- Obesity is defined by BMI, which is simply a weight to height ratio. It's a bit biased towards tall, muscular people... many tall muscular people will have high BMIs even if they have low body fat.
- BMI was intended for economic population data not individual's health assessments. A better personal health assessment that is as simple to calculate as BMI is waist to height ratio.
- This study looked at BMI over 40 and that is considered "morbidly obese." (For comparison, the plus size model in Sports Illustrated, Yumi Nu, has a BMI around 34, many pro-athletes are "overweight" also)

My point is if you're BMI is 26 or 35 then you might technically be called overweight or obese respectively BUT this study - and many studies about obesity - do not necessarily apply to you so don't worry too much.
