This can be happening in any area but my experience is in the borough of NYC where my mom lives.

There are many 80-90 year seniors living in my moms neighborhood. On a walk downstairs you see dozens with their walker or in wheel chairs sitting outside, walking , shopping , etc with aides. Many have home care aides coming to their homes every day.

My mom has someone twice a week. Being my mom still can walk and can do for herself I had suggested the aide to stop coming for awhile. My mom didn’t even have a chance to decide, today the aide she has told her she is becoming afraid to travel and would my mom be ok if she didn’t come.

Thinking this out if many of these aides decide not go to their jobs anymore there will be many seniors that will not be taken care of that need that care. NYC resources are already spread thin so I this can be disastrous on top of the virus.

On another note, today mom had a slight cough on the phone, now I am worried even more.
