We own at Massanutten and have been there in the Spring, Fall and Summer. We have never been there in winter, specifically at Christmas. I have a unit on hold. What are the chances of them making or having snow on the slopes at Christmas. NTHC, I know you live in the area; what has been your experience? Anyone else stayed there at Christmas time? I have a 2-BR 8/8 at Woodstone on hold. The RCI listing only shows sleeping arrangements for 6/6 and 12/12. Anyone had an 8/8 at Woodstone? I'm going to call RCI and/or the resort before confirming, unless someone has first-hand knowledge. I own and love Mountainside Villas. We toured Woodstone a couple of years ago. I prefer Mountainside Villas for their size, but am thinking that the 8/8 is larger than the 6/6, and would suit our desire for extra space. There mostly likely will only be 4 to 5 of us.

This sounds like the units you are speaking of. I think they are 2 story units, but I am not sure.

The Mountainside Villas are still my favorite although the Woodstone units are much newer.

This past year at Christmas we had great skiing.... It depends on the year of course. It was cold early on and we had a huge base by Christmas. Other years we have had warmer weather and only a few slopes were open during the holidays.

Hope this helps,
cindy

It is somewhat iffy for skiing anywhere in the east (excluding the resorts at high elevatrions like Killington, etc.) We were at Massanutten some years ago the week before Xmas and ended up golfing instead of skiing - the only snow was that which the snow guns were trying to make and it didn't last long. This past X-mas we were at Jiminy Peaks (northern Massachusetts) and had lots of snow for skiing although we were quite a bit north of Massanutten. The bottom line is that you never know and I wouldn't count on it as a given (mid January to late February I would think is much more reliable) however, there are so many other things to do at Massanutten that even without skiing you would never be bored.

You answered everything I wanted to know. That's definitely the unit. I'm with you on the Mountainside Villas. They're the best to me. We stayed at The Summit Hillside once and didn't like it because it was so cramped. When we toured Woodstone, they seemed very small also. Thanks so much for the info. It was very, very helpful.

Answered everything I wanted to know. Thanks! That's definitely the unit.
