I'm out on the deck looking for the Northern Lights. I'm in a group across Washington that has been posting the times, area and intensity of the auroas. So far I'm seeing very faint displays but it's early.

My brother sent me these from Superior Wisconsin. I see many of my other friends from Wisconsin are also posting pictures from all over Wisconsin.

It's waning but is still visible with a camera. So far it hasn't been as intense as last May but the nights not over.

Beautiful. With a camera or naked eye or both?

Beautiful. With a camera or naked eye or both?

With our eyes we can see a greenish gray slow moving cloud and with the Samsung phone camera the cloudy areas are green with red streaks. So this time, the colors are faint with the eye and camera but noticeable in a picture. Last May we had a really good display that we could see with our eyes. Our group is a Facebook group for Washington Northern Lights but people as far away as Arizona have added pictures.

It's cold out tonight and the Northern Lights are kind of fickle so I finally decided to give up.

After 40+ years of T/S ownership, I am no longer "an owner"
It was amazing last night! The first time I could see the northern lights with my naked eye in Wisconsin. Here is the best of images I got at Horicon Marsh Nat'l Wildlife Refuge.

They were not visible to the naked eye in Truckee when we looked last night, around 9pm. The camera saw them though. I'm not sure about later because I went to bed because watching a busy 2 year old is exhausting.

Last May the Northern Lights were better where we live in Central Washington. They were so bright. Last night's show was faint. Here is what we saw in May.

Northern lights were in Virginia but I missed it

We were going to travel to Yellowknife to see the Northern Lights but had to cancel that trip twice. They finally came to Washington in May and we were lucky to have such a good show at a decent hour. The next few times I missed them too but did catch the last one. I'm a bit bummed out that I haven't seen the comet yet. I've seen some really good pictures though.
