I'm not sure if there is anything that can be done about this. I have a reservation (Fri-Fri) at my home unit in January (happens to me Maui Ocean Club). I traded another unit for another week at the club so that I would have a two week vacation. However, the traded unit is Sun-Sun. II told me that I could refuse the trade, and wait for another, but given how close it is to my actual travel dates, this is risky. So, my question is: is there any chance the hotel will change the date of the second week (subject to how full it is) to avoid checking out for two days? Has anyone had success with this, or should I just accept that this is the way it's going to be?

Thanks for any help.

Its very unlikely that the resort will change the days. I dont believe Marriott resorts will do that with exchanges.

As it's at your home resort it can't hurt to call them and ask direct.
