No prepaid fees for starting RCI searches through 3/27

Hi all,

Just wanted to share. Right now RCI is running a special where you don't have to pay the $199 exchange fee upfront when you start a search. I had seen that someone had previously posted this on the exchange forum but didn't think another thing about it since we go through HGVC. I figured it didn't apply to us.

When I called today to add another search they told me they were running the special, so you don't have to pay upfront. I started a couple more today since they were free.

They told me that this was through 3/27, so if you were thinking of doing searches, now is the time to start them.

Update: When I called today I was told the special was only running through today 3/24.

Thanks. I will put one in for a friend that wants Oahu, Hawaii - Week 12 2013. I think I will include an extra search with just HGVC and see if anything comes up. That would be hilarious if it did!!!

I was under the impression that being an HGVC member, we could look/search/book RCI without pre-paying MF's and RCI fees - and that the RCI fees didn't go into effect until confirmed? Or do I have it wrong?

The only fee you have to pay upfront when starting an ongoing search is the $199 RCI exchange fee. This is the fee that has to be paid for any exchange through RCI & is paid when you start the search. Right now, you don't have to pay it to start the search, but you are still responsible for paying it if/when an exchange actually comes through.

You can look in current inventory RCI has without paying a fee or depositing anything, but if what you want is not available you will want to start a search & that costs you the 199. If when you looked RCI did have what you wanted & you booked it & didn't need to do an ongoing search, you still pay the 199 when you book your exchange.

There is no prepayment of MF, like you said.

The website does not have an ongoing search (waitlist) feature, so you have to call to request it.
The $199 RCI fee for weekly reservations made by telephone is typically collected upon initiation,
before confirmation of a hit.

YEP ... called this morning 3/27 and was told it ended 3/25. Someone should make certain their staff know the correct dates!!!

The email that went out and on the website said 3/25, when I read you hgvc owners talking about 3/27, i thought you were either mistaken or were "extra special", i doubted the latter was the case.

The last email I got about it was 3/23/12, subject title:

"LAST CHANCE to open an Ongoing Search for FREE! Offer ends March 25th, 2012"
