As you cross the river into Hanalei there is an enormous field of Taro on the Mauka side of the road. That is the source for most of the Poi on Kauai.

The floods have completely destroyed the crop. I've met the family that farms the Taro and I sure hope they have crop insurance. A friend sent a picture taken from the overlook and Hanalei will be renamed Lake Hanalei if it keeps raining.

There was a landslide by Lumahai Beach that closed the road,.I understand it has been cleared.

My friends by powerhouse road are fine but I hope that dam holds because there are a lot of people that would get wiped out if the dam failed.

Hanalei was closed for a short period of time. We were lucky, the weather was
Nothing like this. Hopefully this stops soon so they all can recover. Maybe it's
