We have just received our property taxes for NCV, we own 2 weeks, however each week has been assessed at different rates, 1 at 12,500 and 1 at 19,991, is there a reason for this? This is the first year of having the second week.

Any info would be appreciated

Is the one assessed for $12,500 the more recent purchase?

Property taxes are based on current market values and the purchase price will have a lot to do with it. When you bought the week a form needed to be filed with the OC assessor (typically the closing company does that) that specifies your purchase price.

You can always appeal high valuations based on recent prices (e.g. ebay), but they don't make it easy (I think you need to show up in person).

Orange Conty Tax Appeals can be done by mail. I think all the forms are on their website.
