newbie-what happens if a canx a reservation/fees, etc.?

If I make a Club reservation for Oct 2021 for 4 nights for 800 points, I think I pay a C;lub reservation fee. If I canx prior to 61 days out? I can use those 800 points for another reservation, but do I have to pay another reservation fee? Can I still save/bank those 2021 points into 2022?
I'd like to grab my mid-Oct 2021 booking when it opens, but I'm at 60-75% certainty of actually going. thanks from a Newbie! Elaine

If it’s a club reservation 61 or more days out, you can just change your reservation. There’s no cost to do that. Go to the My Reservations page and click on the change reservation button.

Then you can change the dates (circled in black) or the resort (circled in red). You can als change the date by sliding the reservation bar to get the dates you want.

If your reservation is 31- 60 days out, you need to cancel and rebook (which would cost you an addition reservation fee).

You pay the fee when you make a Club Season reservation like what you're planning for Oct 2021.

At 61+ days from arrival, you can either:

• Move/change your reservation to a different resort and/or dates. No fee to do this since you're 61+ days out.
• Cancel your reservation and lose the reservation fee. You would only do this if you're sure you're not using your points in 2021 and want to save them into 2022.

Yes... However...
Instead of cancelling, you can change dates or resort w/o losing the fee or any points, if in the same calendar year.
LT 61 days out, you lose the booking fee. LT 31 days out, you start losing points (absent point protection).

Can I still save/bank those 2021 points into 2022?

You can save 2021 points anytime until 11:59pm, 12/31. The fee is $119 online or $129 by phone.
OTOH, borrowing from a future year is free. Thus... 'Tis better to be a borrower than to be a saver.
