In the hotel world "Walking a reservation" is turning away a guest. A hotel that is oversold might send the guest to a property used for overflow.
I feel the OP, is asking about Hilton timeshare "Walking a Reservation" question?

For HGVC it means booking a reservation before your desired check in date then moving it a day at a time until you reach your desired dates.

It’s the same for DVC as for HGVC as @SmithOp explained above - book a stay that begins earlier than your (highly desired and hard to book) dates, then modify your reservation periodically until the days you actually want are reserved.
