As the US approaches the grim milestone of 100,000 coronavirus deaths, the New York Times has filled the entire front page of Sunday’s paper with the death notices of victims from across the country.

When readers across the country pick up a copy of the New York Times on Sunday, May 24, 2020 they will be confronted with an extraordinarily grim sight.

They will see the names and a peek into the lives of the people who died in the U.S. as a result of the coronavirus pandemic. The nearly one thousand obituaries, which fill the entire front page, represent only an estimated 1% of the death toll.

Monday in the US is Memorial Day, the traditional start of the American summer, and some experts fear that the return of warmer weather combined with a loosening of lock downs around the country could trigger a deadly second wave of the coronavirus. "Stay at Home and Stay Safe"

I wonder if a newspaper anywhere will print a list of names of the million or so who have recovered.

Cheers
