Any thoughts on the best option of location between Wyndham Midtown, Manhattan Club and MVC Pulse. Looking both at safety and proximity to sites. All 3 are available to me and will work for the group in question.

Manhattan Club would be the best location in my opinion, followed by the Pulse.

Thanks so much. My sister wants to take our Niece as a graduation present. I have access to all 3 and all are available for the size needed. I would just gift it to them as my contribution to the graduation present.

I like MC tbd best. Like a Pied-à-terre with the little kitchenette.

We stayed at the Pulse in August. Nice location but room size was tiny. We probably wouldn’t stay there again. Hotel rooms were larger.

Agree with Travelinmom's post. Pulse is tiny. There are so many more places that are a better location/price point.

We stayed at Manhattan Club in April. We had the 1br, 2 bath PH unit. Nice size. It was 2 - 3 blocks in either direction to the subway lines.

Thanks all, they're still trying to get their air settled before committing. Hopefully the MC or Pulse will still be available but if not, they were already looking at Air BnB anyway.

Just to update, I ended up getting two rooms at Marriott Pulse Do you like skiing with City view. The Windham did not seem to be in as good a location and it would’ve taken 2 years of points for the one bedroom. Manhattan club was more points than I wanted to spend and I may need those points for another option. Also Manhattan club only had one room with queen plus pull out which said It slept three even though I was searching for four. thanks again for the help.

Just back from staying at the New York pulse and thought I'd post my views on the property.

I think that if you are after a New York stay I'd definitely just use a hotel the next time, as with Pulse IMHO it's neither fish nor fowl.

Its not the same as a vacation club in that you are essentially giving up your time in a villa with kitchen facilities etc for what is nothing more than a hotel room and a New York sized room at that. If the Pulse was a hotel you'd have access to the business lounge which the Pulse NYC doesn't have as its a vacation club. So if you're happy giving up a week at a resort for a week in a hotel then it may be okay, but I've stayed at the Downtown Marriott before which is far nicer and as others have commented before with competition from AirBnB I honestly don't think its worth trading your week for this place and I won't do it again.

The reception and bar staff were all excellent although the concierge do pressure you into attending a 90 minute sales presentation at their nearby newly opened sales centre. My wife and I attended the centre mainly to learn how to better use the points that we have particularly since the rebranding to Bonvoy and the apparent reduction in value for us.

The session started like they always do with an update on properties etc, then when it was obvious we didn't want to increase our portfolio the senior sales rep was wheeled in for what I can only describe as a pressure sales where she was almost exasperated that we couldn't see the value in spending an additional week at a resort.

Finally she left us and said that they just needed to complete a survey and the next person that was wheeled in and tried to sell us one of those 4 nights 5 days packages. The whole 90 minute experience took 120 minutes and wasn't a great experience.

Leaving a positive note the rooftop bar was a great space and as I said the staff were all very good.

I love your description of the sales people being "wheeled in " so true. I will say that although small, I like the location of the Pulse and would reserve the empire views and I think there may be options to book slightly larger rooms although they are all small.
