New Year's Eve on the Big Island

We spent New Years Eve 2010 in downtown Kona waiting for our resort reservation to open the next day. The only fireworks we saw were fountains and sparklers being set off in parking lots where they sold the fireworks. We were told the next day that one of the resorts North near Waikoloa had a small fireworks show on New Years Eve.
