I was wondering if anyone has done a timeshare for New Years Eve before? I know this is a tough exchange but I have a Myrtle Beach July 4, 2005 week searching for it.

In particular, if I want to go to the fireworks on the Strip that night, I know driving will be impossible but if I stay at an outer resort, is there anyway I would be able to get to the strip for the celebration?

Any help is truly appreciated!

I have stayed at LV Hilton HGVC , its an monorail ride to the strip.
Any of the Hiltons would work great.
Also, Polo towers, Jockey Club, Fairfield, or Marriott

If you are searching in II.. its doubtful, if you're looking in RCI.. you might have a small chance.

You should consider looking for a rental.
HGVC Hilton and Fairfield have partial week rentals. The Hiltons probably wont be showing up much until 9 months prior to checkin

Sorry Dave

I thought I hit private email. Must have been on auto pilot.

My wife and I did New Year's Eve in Las Vegas last year. We stayed at Fairfield Grand Desert, one block off the strip. It's an easy drive to Luxor or Mandalay Bay from there, which are at the southern edge of where the city barricades the strip from car traffic hours before and after midnight. We watched the fireworks from the street there, which were awesome, over MGM & Paris (if I remember right). We couldn't see the fireworks at the Stratosphere at the northern edge from our spot though. There were lots of parties and dance clubs and entertainers to choose from. Fremont Street had a big block party with good headliners for a reasonable price.

New Year's access.....

Shorty,

Regarding your actual question about parking for New Years Eve. Depending on which 'outer' resort you will be staying at and where you would like to park, you would be able to do New Year's on the Strip.

Only Desert Inn Road is open going East/West across the Strip. Most of the Resorts on the East side of the Strip have an exit out the back of the property, however, there are some resorts on the West side of the Strip that only have access from Las Vegas Blvd which would leave you trapped.

Another option if you stay at an 'outer' resort may be the resorts shuttle service or Las Vegas' public transportation.

More and more of the west side resorts are gaining a back way out with the new Frank Sinatra Drive, Dean Martin Dr., Harmon overpass, and Highland Dr.

Good Luck on getting an exchange!!

You will love it, there is nothing like a million of your closest friends helping celebrate the end and begining of another year.

We were there a year ago. They did not completely close off traffic on the strip until about 9 p.m., and started allowing traffic about an hour or two after midnight. Depending on where you get the exchange, one strategy would be to get to the strip before they close off traffic, park in a casino garage (depending on where you want to view the fireworks), and just plan on spending a few hours in the clubs, casinos, shows, etc. both before and after the fireworks. You can do that, can't you? ;)

I would call the authorities ahead of time and find out the exact hours. Also, if where you are staying is within walking distance, that would make it much easier.
