Ok, I've finally gotten the nerve to post.  I have been reading all of the posts for several days and love this place.

We are newbies, bought on a visit to WKV in '06, exchanged thru II first year (we bought in Dec. and only had a short window of time) and went to Mexico, this summer went to SVV and will be trying to get into HRA 06/09. I have read all in info up to date, but if anyone can think of anything new, please advise.

I will be on the phone at 1 minute till - 8 months out. If anyone has any other suggestions or tips, please let me know. :)

Welcome to TUG! :hi:

In case you can't get HBR - you should have a back-up plan.

I would either :

1) go ahead and make a reservation for my home resort (now) for the same week, (which you will cancel if you get HBR) or

2) have 2 other resorts selected to request while you're still on the phone (8 mos. out) if you don't get HBR.

3) Or both

Good Luck!

The only problem with booking something now and not waiting unitl October, she'll have to cancel the reservation and then book HRA. If it takes to long, the HRA unit will be gone.

My advice is to not forget about Fri/Fri and Sun/Sun reservations if they're available at HRA.

Early June will probably have a better availability than mid-to-late June. A lot of kids aren't out of school til mid-June.

I'd definitely have a back-up reservation.

Oh, and welcome to TUG!!!

Will I have any luck using 3 different days to request. Such as Friday, Saturday, following Friday? If we don't get into HBR, we will probably exchange thru II for another exotic location. DH is not willing to go to Hawaii yet. :wall:

Kinda special trip, we will be celebrating all in one with 2 DD's, College Graduation and High School Graduation, also our
25th wedding anniversary. Thanks.

Welcome! St Louis is a great place to travel from since it's in the middle!

I'd start with the Friday of the earliest week you want to go. Fri-Fri is less busy that Sat-Sat. HRA is a blast! (And you might not want to tell your HS Senior, but the drinking age is 18 down there.) Good luck!

Thank you. St. Louis is great. Too bad. She already knows. She was doing cartwheels. I hope we get to see how great it is.

18.........Ha! All you need is a room key and be able to reach the counter at the bar!

Two years ago, my son (14) and his friend(15) were getting served. We found out a year later. That was the reason why the 15 year old wasn't feeling well for dinner, towards the end of the week. He said it was from too much sun and his sunburn. Actaully it was from to much tequilla!

Yeah, we found that out in Mexico a couple years ago. The pool waiters would just come up and say "what would you like to drink" . Anything goes down there. We had a fantastic time though. Our 1st time out of the country.

Thanks for the info. If you think of any other tips, pass'm on.
