We just purchased a timeshare from the developer this week and are still in the period that we are able to recind. Reading this forum makes me think we should.
But if we buy a resale will we be able to take advantage of last calls?
We have been offered VIP status for 2 years and have been told that VIP is not available as resale. Thanks for your information.

VIP benefits are not available via resale. However, are they really worth the difference in price between resale and retail? I can get 400,000 points resale for $4000 or less (significantly less at most resorts if you are patient and do your homework). Retail this would probably cost $60,000 - $80,000. So are those silver benefits worth $50,000+, Gold $100,000+, and Platinum $150,000+ ??? For most people I would say No! So most folks here will tell you to RESCIND and buy resale points.

You do get access to RCI weeks, including extra vacations and last call. You may have to call Wyndham to make sure the RCI account is set up and properly linked, they don't always follow through with this or do it on a timely basis.

Well, last call is not a Wyndham program, it is a RCI program. They lied. With resale Wyndham points, or any system that uses RCI has access to last call. It a rental program for leftover resorts they cannot trade.

Wyndham points
We own Wyndham points purchased resale. Have owned for about 3 years and love staying at the resorts.

We did a developer tour before purchasing and considered but decided the developer purchase cost was just not a good value. Then found TUG which obviously confirmed!

I would rescind and buy resale, best venue I've found is ebay and this may be a good time of year to catch a bargain. If you only wanted a relatively small points contract you might even find one cheap (or free) here on TUG.

I'd really like to have Wyndham VIP status, but there's no way that the benefits would come close to the additional cost (over resale) for me.

Rescind immediately, do your research here and browse the catalog to see how many points you really need for the resorts you want to book. Then buy the number of points you need once you know what you need.

I have met MANY MORE unhappy (retail - buyer who brought from the developer) .... who are angry about being lied to and the cost - never to be recovered either via the discount usage or "free unit upgrades". But there are scores of owners who believe the "sales' person's lies ... limited usage of the points, only bookable at 60 days before checkin, etc.

As a Wyndham points owner ... buy what you will use, learn the rules and figure out how much cheaper you got your ownership.

$100,000 NOT spent by buying from the developer ... at 5% is $5000 yearly (lost opportunity cost) buys a LOT of unit upgrades and VIP Guest Certificate (VIP is only 5 ... $495 yearly).

Rescind immediately and follow the instructions exactly.

Most important point: If you research and do find that you want the VIP - you can go back and buy and get them.

IMO I am certain you will come to the same conclusion as most here - buy resale and save thousands of $ - the perks from VIP are "nice" but that does not mean they are worth the thousands of extra dollars

The Wyndham sales weasels took you to the cleaners. Anything purchased from the developer is a ripoff - way over priced. They have no resell value so rescind and save yourself tens of thousands of dollars. Buy resell for a thousand dollars or two and bank the rest...

How many presentations have you attended? 5, 10?
My number was + - 17. On a 154000 point converted week. Resale.

Did you read the thread (post) as to your needs and wants?

There is a survey you follow.

We just got our acknowledgement from Wyndham that they did rescind the sale.
So now we can look around here and try to buy some points for 2016.
Thanks for the advice.
