Let me know what you think....

II called yesterday with an available exchange to Imperial Hawaii Vacation Club summer 2009; which I declined(wasn't on my list and reviews mixed). Now my children are thinking I am crazy...they don't care where in Hawaii they go,(we haven't been there yet).
1. Did I pass up the only opportunity to go there next summer?
2. Do they call back again after a negative response?
3. Do more exchanges become available later in the year when maintenance fees are due?

Background: I just joined II in late July, 2008, and deposited my 2009 week 23 at Peppertree Tamarack. This was the first call from II, and I am committing to only a one year agreement with them to try them out. My pending request list for next summer (2009) has 12+ places listed encompassing Hawaii, Washington, Oregon, South Carolina and Maine coasts. Any of those places will be fine with us.

Any insights would be appreciated. Thanks!

1. You did not pass up the only opportunity to go to Hawaii, as long as your search is open and is still searching you should get Hawaii in the summer.

2. They will call back, although calling them occasionally may help you feel better.

3. A lot of exchanges with II is usually within 1 year or less.

Since you have a broad assortment of acceptable areas, you may want to broaden your horizons even further and start looking at on-line availability.

Occasionally things show up on-line that match your search, but don't get caught by the II process. Also things may show up in similar areas that you hadn't considered.

Even though you have an on-going request, you can still search with the deposited week and use it to exchange for a week you see on-line.

Hi! I'm in the Appleton area, you?

I found Maui is my easiest trade a year out with II.
