My original week is July, 2022 and I traded for a unit for Sept. 2022 and added the Eplus at the time of trade. I won't be able to use the Sept. week, so I started a retrade. I was surprised that I could only see units up until Sept. 2023 (and not the ending date of my original deposit, which would have been July, 2024.) Is this really the way the eplus works? Seems like you pay more and get a smaller window to trade.

That's how eplus works. It's one year from exchange chekin date...regardless of original checkin.

If you exchanged 2 years out, you'd gain a third year.

You pay more to get the flexibility to make 3 more trades a year out from the original exchange.

So if I now trade from this Sept. to May, 2023 and then cancel that to do my first etrade, what timeframe can I make a trade. Is it still Sept. 2023, or is it now May, 2024 (12 months from first retrade)

Are you within 24 hrs of your original exchange for September? If not it is too late to undue what you did.

It's 12 months from the original trade. Retrades won't extend the period.

Is that a trick to extend the original week? Thank you!

Yes.

Back to your current situation: If you know you won't make it and don't have an alternate location, you can use your first retrade for a "placeholder" resort in September 2023. Then when you find a place you want to go, use retrade #2. There's no rush at the moment, but make sure you do it more than 60 days before your current check-in; otherwise, you'll be limited to searching 60 days out.

Thank you. When I decide to use retrade #2 after securing a "placeholder" in Sept. 2023, what are the new search parameter dates for retrade # 2? That's what I'm confused over. Does it have to be before Sept. 2023 or do you get a year from Sept. 2023?

The trick to extending the original week is to add EPlus to an exchange when the original deposit is nearing expiration (within 12 months of expiration).

Your second and third retrades will always be limited to September 2023. Never beyond that. If you use your last (third) retrade, you will then gain access to the "Start Retrade" button, which will then allow you to retrade through the original deposit expiration. However, using that will require a new exchange fee to be paid.

I am a relative newby to II. When I deposited my 2022 usage, I paid an exchange fee and for E+ when setting up an OGS. My reasoning was I might not pay attention when it matched and could miss the opportunity to add E+ at that time.

Did I make a mistake?

I assume my 1 year of retrades starts on the date of the usage week I first exchange into?

The trick to extending the original week is to add EPlus to an exchange when the original deposit is nearing expiration (within 12 months of expiration).
