good afternoon....

This may be old to some ,but news to me....
Directly from my guru....

If you purchase a MVCD week from the MVCD resale office ( not regular resales, thru other sources) AND purchase 2500 pts, they will make the resale weeks eligible for DC...

Anyone out there considering a purchase of 4000 Trust points, would be better off purchasing 2500 + a couple of resale weeks!!!

For example...If you purchase 2500 pts for 25K = 1 plat mountainside ski week for $30,000 from resale ( 5k points) you would get these 5k points at $6/pt + the ownership deed to plat ski week....

Puck,

This is interesting (and is new to me). I think the next logical step (down the road) is to be able to enroll post-June 20, 2010 resale weeks with the purchase of X,XXX Trust Points. Starwood lets you do this, its called requalifying a week. Marriott's effort here is kind of half-a-step in this direction.

Thanks for reporting this!

Best,

Greg

Just spent my orphan points at GV 2 nites with the Drains and Mrs. Puck... I spent 1 hr showing my guru how to use the new website... She wants me to run an owners seminar at GV. Told her, I would be honored "for some DC bonus points"....

Merry Xmas to you , jonelle and your cash drains!!!

haha- just have to interject a  here...I love the "cash drains" reference.
Just wondering- at what age do they really become adults :hysterical:  ?

As many of us suspected, Marriott will likely use some version of the requalification type offer that Starwood has. It seemed a logical step for their new resale week program, and I agree with Greg that it will likely be offered to outside resales at some future point.

To the best of my knowledge adults were last produced around 1957. I haven't heard anything about future production dates.

good evening....

For those following the dialogue between Greg and myself...

Bern's steak house in South Tampa has the worlds largest restaurant wine cellar..Over 125,000 bottles to choose from...You can get a bottle from $12 to $100,000....

Greg and I are meeting for the first time 4/2 for a Lightning /Caps game and a fine dinner!!! Unfortunately, the bolts have taken a few steps backwards.... Marty St. Louis represents all that is good in sports. He had his face blown up by a puck 12/8, during the morning skate. He required surgery for facial fractures. 13 days later he puts on a face shield, plays and snags a goal!!!!

I agree that Marriott would be wise to developer a requalification process where people can enroll post 6/2010 weeks.

I think as the program matures more they would be better to create a program where people deed their weeks back to the trust and get a points value equivalent when they buy x,xxx points. I think that however would be more like 10 to 15 years out.

It's all about money for Marriott. Right now they are not finished with shearing the sheep (legacy owners) who enrolled into the DC. The current strategy is to put out rumors that legacy owners had better buy some additional points after you enroll in the DC or you will lose out to the trust people. After that they will also be after those that didn't enroll before June 20th. I think the figure is said to be about 70% + who did not. (strictly a speculative number)

Dioxide's estimate makes sense because Marriott will not have gotten around to going after the after June 20th purchasers until later. I think that Marriott won't open up anything to the after Jun 20 purchasers fearing that it might scare off the others who might fear more competition for the best in-season weeks. I think that Marriott will want to first milk more of the legacy owners and sell points to new folks rather than do much for the after Jun 20th owners. Of course if Marriott feels that the legacy owners pool is "tapped out" then they will look at other prospects for revenues. Until then, the after Jun 20th owners better plan on personal use as their best option.

This is very good news as it may stop resale values of most resorts during summer or holidays from dropping even further like they have done lately unless the economy even weakens further. Do you agree?

Happy New Year to All TUGgers and enjoy many trips next year.
