The first picture is the new door seals. Intended to reassure you that no one has entered the room since it was cleaned. A little silly in my opinion.

The second item is how you get all the information that used to be paper in you room like the channel guide and how to use the coffee pot. You don’t need a QR reader app. Just point your phone at the code.

The removal of binders and paper in the room is a good idea. Keeping those binders updated and in good order for every room adds to overhead and cost.

Do those seals remove easily? I could envision a pile of old stickers remaining or worn wood and paint after changing a few times.

Certainly glad that they are going to discontinue wasting paper like this, as well as @CalGalTraveler's comment about being out of date. Inasmuch as the CDC have determined that transmission from objects/surfaces is not a viable vector, though, not sure what that really has to do with COVID19.

Cheers.

Without a doubt a driving reason for this is psychological. While CDC reports "based on what is currently known about COVID-19, spread from person-to-person of this virus happens most frequently among close contacts (within about 6 feet)," I think it is going a step too far to say "the CDC have determined that transmission from objects/surfaces is not a viable vector."

Here is exactly what CDC states:

"Transmission of coronavirus occurs much more commonly through respiratory droplets than through objects and surfaces, like doorknobs, countertops, keyboards, toys, etc. Current evidence suggests that SARS-CoV-2 may remain viable for hours to days on surfaces made from a variety of materials. Cleaning of visibly dirty surfaces followed by disinfection is a best practice measure for prevention of COVID-19 and other viral respiratory illnesses in households and community settings."

More than a little silly... wasteful...
like the one-way signs in shopping aisles, which everyone ignores.

While I agree that the sign isn't needed, anything that can ease people's feelings about travelling and going into spaces that others have occupied, could have contaiminated, and they themselves haven't clean is positive.

I see that the specific page on spread was updated June 1. I had seen a prior version that said something like about "surfaces touched by many people" and a need to "be in contact with a large quantity of virus" making surfaces unlikely, Seems that they've backed off a bit.

Still, given the concentrations in surfaces and the decreasing concentration that begins immediately even though some can "hang around" for a while (at considerably reduced concentration), it seems pretty clear to me that this is not viable.

Also, the notion of cleaning the mentioned surfaces in a household makes no sense to me. If there is virus on any of these surfaces, one of the folks in the household out it there so the folks in the household are, or will be, infected from contact. If I'm infected and it's on my doorknob, I can't get any more infected :)

Cheers.

I agree.....I stay in a lot of Hiltons and usually always check out the room before I accept it.....I can see how this new policy will prevent me from doing that but who knows who has been in your room before you. I like the idea of the seal because it shows they are thinking of prevention of COVID-19 for their guests.
