First excuse me if I mix up the alphabet soup. HGVC bought DRI. It is becoming HVC. HGVC and HVC are separate Systems. The former owners of DRI have several seats on the overall BOD. Members of either side can get access to the other by buying into MAX. But the Booking Window is only 6 months. Also as I understand it if a Member of HGVC buys into MAX they lose certain rights rights and privileges they had in HGVC. If a DRI/HVC Member buys into MAX they lose certain rights and privileges they had in DRI/HVC.
I don't think you lose anything in the "core" program. From the HGVC side, the only folks who really lose anything are the upper elite tier folks. Non-elite HGVC members and probably first tier elite only gain benefits. They have the same use if the HGVC/HC system but then get access to HVC with no reservation fee and a free guest cert.

Except that you will lose some hard-earned cash because it will take money in order to gain access.

Very true... Unless, you get it free like the one resale person did.

You have most of it right up till the end. No one loses their owned rights and privileges in the system they own with.

True. But the elite perks are not deeded/owned rights, and it does seem that buying into max can cost hgvc owners their legacy elite privileges. Most of them are duplicated within Max but there are some differences at the higher tiers iirc.

When you purchase into Max, you are purchasing into a different membership so the perks change. Many of the advantages are different in Max and many feel they are not as good.

Even within DRI/HVC they took away some of the perks that were given to club members. They didn’t take away booking rights from either side, but advantages and upgrades while booking.

Two things will be certain. It will be crazy expensive and it will be difficult to reserve the most high demand use periods.

Even at the highest level of Max Tiers, you lose some compared to Elite Premier. In EP, you don't have fees for almost everything and unlimited free guest certs. You are right about elite not being deeded but they are still supported. No benefits within HGV are guaranteed other than the week you own. If you are Legacy and want to stay Legacy, you need to buy resale.

If you buy MAX and you are DRI you lose Club Select and Club Combination. We have not used it in a few years but when we had a very small DRI Account we would deposit Worldmark weeks and get DRI Points. It is true they have removed some of the Resorts eligible to be deposited but Worldmark is still accepted. Our Club Select Club Combination is written into our Contract and specifies how many DRI Points for each Worldmark week (1bedroom and 2 bedroom) and what is the maximum DRI Points we can get each year.

HVC: The Point at Poipu, 3 deeded weeks, 1 of which is in The Club.
This is a Hilton branded product. The specific resort was Diamond, but is now a Hilton Grand Vacation Resort. The purchase is for 5500 HGRC points, usable odd years. They are offering a bonus one-time 5500 points. The maintenance fee is $900-something, and the off-year Club dues are just under $300 for the off-year.
Just so you know, unless you use your points for a last minute booking, 5500 points won't get you a 7 day stay at the Point at Poipu even at the lowest view category, garden view. Normally, it takes at least 8500 points for garden view and 15,500 for ocean front. Points can be carried over for one year or borrowed from the next year. However, P@P is one of the highest value properties. Even at Ka'anapali Beach Club, a one bedroom scenic view is 6500 for a week.

Is Point at Poipu HGVC as the OP stated or HVC?

Yeah I just looked it up on the WEB Site. Like I said earlier Hilton is not making it easy with the Alphabet Soup they are creating.
