Hard to believe, but after years hanging out, almost buying an SVO unit several times, getting esniped several times, sniping with too low of a price, it finally happened, my manual ebay bid with 30 seconds to go surprisingly worked. Well.....price was good, but probably not as good as some of you more experienced ebay bidders.

I just registered on mystarcentral.com, asked owned services to deposit my lockoff into two 1-br units for II (received my email confirmation), and then contacted the Starwood II desk to register my SDO. Now I've got to wait just a few more days until II confirms my unit with Starwood and I'll be on my way to searching with my next starwood preferenced unit for my 2013/2014 vacations.

I really want to THANK all you SVO TUGGERS for all your help over the years helping me learn, answer my naive questions, and just making me understand how to best use my SVO ownership. I guess I knew I'd eventually be an SVO owner - just wasn't sure when, but here I am finally.

We're pretty much booked up vacation wise for this year, but have room for just one more SVO trip next year (finally using a starwood preferenced unit). It'll be exciting to see SVO units online without having to really wait for the preference period to end and also pick a week I want vs potluck out-of-preference period week, leftover week. Don't get me wrong, we've enjoyed our fantastic stays at WKORV with non-SVO preference trader, but just anxious to get our first II trade (with SVO to SVO reduced II exchange fee).

I noticed on mystarcentral 2010 & 2011 maintenance fees with projected 2012 maintenance fees. Is the 2012 projection really reasonably accurate? It was a 2% increase from 2010-2011, but if the 2012 projected MF is accurate, it's another 8%+ increase for 2012. I sure hope the MFs don't continue at these levels.

Anyway, looking forward to many years of SVO preference unit trading on II and contributing on TUG here.

We're actually going to WKORVN for the first time ever this fall, so no HIGHWAY VIEW!

Once again, thank all of you for your wonderful help and patience with my questions.

BTW - I have been a member of TUG for quite a long time and have contributed with rather extensive long resort reviews here on TUG, so I have been contributing anonymously periodically. I just wish I could dedicate more time, but just too busy with a couple of teenage kids.

Next visits: WM Las Vegas, Marriott Cypress Harbour, WKORVN

Congratulations!

Don't forget to put in an Ongoing Rearch to maximize the effectiveness of your deposit. Even if you only intend to do an Instant Online Exchange, having an On-going Request is place will make it an easier trade, and a stronger trader.

See the II FAQ at the top of the forum for all the details.

congrats on your new TS.

It sounds like you have others already. I am beginning to wonder if I am a lone soul around here with only 1. (must be because I'm new to TUG, huh  ):p :ignore:

Congrats - we leave for WKORV in 1 week - can't wait - reserved 1 year ago, and using UA FF miles 331 days ahead for the 2 of us (80K total for the flights we normally take - and reserved exit rows as PremExec...)

Perhaps someone can post the history of MFs for WKORVN - that will give you an idea.

I'm pretty sure TUG membership directly correlates to buying more units, but probably saves you money on subsequent purchases... :D

We had 2 before we found TUG, and now we're up to 8, but the info on TUG saved us from buying 3 of those from the developer.

Luv Maui, congrats on your successful eBay purchase at SDO! You are a first time Starwood owner at SDO, right? (You're excitement about going to Maui made me read your posting twice to see if you owned there, too? But, it appears you are a happy II trader into Maui!) I'm sure an owner can fill you in with a good history of MF's at SDO.

Welcome!

We have the MF's for the last 4 years in Starwood Owner Resources at the top of the forum.

Welcome!

Yes, we're new owners at SDO, but love going to Maui. Actually, the original destination was Kauai until Hurricane Iniki forced us to change destinations. We've been going to Maui reasonably regularly since then. We've stayed at most of the hotels on Ka'anapali Beach, some in Kihei as well as once at the Four Seasons in Wailea.
