JetBlue founder David Neeleman's new startup Breeze Airways set to launch

David Neeleman, the aggressive airline mogul who counts the founding of JetBlue among his accomplishments, on Friday unveiled some tantalizing details about his plans for a new low-fare, point-to-point airline now officially dubbed Breeze Airways. Breeze, which expects to begin service late this year, has applied for operating certification with the Federal Aviation Administration and the U.S. Department of Transportation.
“Twenty years ago we brought humanity back to the airline industry with JetBlue. Today we’re excited to introduce plans for ‘the world’s nicest airline,' " said Neeleman, Breeze's CEO and president. Neeleman said Breeze, headquartered in Salt Lake City, will initially operate as a low-fare, point-to-point carrier serving mid-sized cities where air service is currently limited.
