Recently bought 7000 resale points at Kona Coast, HI. My statement indicates there are 9800 total current points which I believe (2800) may be a carryover from the previous owner. Statement says there are 6825 points available to bank to next use year with a banking deadline of Sept 1, 2008. Use period is 01/01 - 12/31. Can someone tell me what will happen to the remaining 2175 points? Do I have to use them by Dec 31 or loose them? Any suggestions?
Thanks.

I think you're exactly right. I'll bet the 2175 points are unused points from a previous year...and they expire this year.

If that's true, you have 2 choices...you can use them by Dec 31, 2008 or bank them by Sept 1, 2008.

Congrats on your purchase. I am a SVC member and have had many great vacations with my points!

Yes, it's use them or lose them! You could get a weekend in San Francisco for about 2300 points. But, you do have a couple of options if you can't use them.
  • Transfer enough to RCI for a studio or 1-bedroom (it's 3500 for a 1-bedroom red week, don't know how much it is for a studio) and you'll get another 2 years to use them through RCI.
  • Use them to purchase three Amex gift cards. It's 700 points for a $100 Amex card valid for 6 months from date of issue.

Also, if you're new to SVC, read the SVC Knowledge thread - it's one of the stickies at the top of this section of the forum.

I will check into the info provided. Much appreciated.
