Thanks for the pics Doug. This makes me want to go back.

Last time there we stayed in an "ocean front" unit facing the inlet and loved it.

I'm very interested in the reply. I have two Ocean Front units that are deeded in Kingfish. Anyone who bought direct from Marriott and paid for an Ocean Front 2bdrm unit in 2004 or later that wasn't listed as a "resale" received a deed in the Kingfish Bldg. If those units are now classified as Ocean View I think there will be a rather large suit to recover the price difference between an Ocean Front and an Ocean View.

Doug,
First of all what are you doing up at 6:59 in the morning? You're supposed to be on vacation.

The last price sheet I have for OP is NOV 2007. The difference between Silver and Gold ocean view and ocean front weeks was about $4500. In plat weeks it was $8500. What possible motive would MVCI have to lower the price on any of those weeks in a resort that was selling extremely well?

If you get a chance while you're at the desk ask them where owners using DC points fit into the room priority. In another thread I posted that they were right behind weeks owners at the resort but Dioxide posted the latest priority list from the MVCI website for OP and it doesn't indicate that. I'm particularly interested as I've made four reservations with DC points next summer at OP.

That one statement in bold got me to thinking that I was probably wrong. One can never underestimate a corporations greed for more money and, being able to charge more by calling the inlet view ocean front made better sense to me than Marriott relenting to owner complaints that it really wasn't ocean front but inlet front.

I stopped by the front desk this morning and confirmed that the inlet views are considered ocean front. Almost makes me wish I had purchased an ocean front two bedroom now. As a three bedroom owner I don't believe I'll ever have the opportunity for that particular ocean front view.

Of course you can have that view anytime you want! All you have to do is lockoff, and your two bedroom and studio can be located in any Ocean Front designation (i.e. the south side of Kingfish), and not restricted to just the front of any one building.

thanks for the pictures. the last time we were there was during a hurricane threat with a possible mandatory evacuation in place when most people left..........we stayed........There was a tropical storm and high winds but afterwards we had no problems getting chairs around the pool for the rest of the week. we loved ocean pt. will enjoy a future trip there.

Unfortunately, no we can't. The three bedroom master suite as a different configuration than the standard two bedroom. We have to be placed in the style/type of unit we own. Thus, even when we lock-off our three bedroom unit, we're still placed in the master suite of the three bedroom lock-off. Thus we'll never be placed in a traditional two bedroom ocean front unit while staying in our season.

The only way for us to get one of those units would be to purchase a 2 bedroom ocean front unit or, trade back in and get lucky.
