Great question, we're not totally sure yet. We went to both Disney World and Disney land this year, so maybe not Orlando. We've had a couple friends ask us to vacation with them, so we might end up banking 2016 points and use them in 2017. It also came with 2015 use that we will deposit to II right away. Lots to think about!

So we got the recorded deed on Friday, about how long does it take for Starwood to do their thing? Also, will they set up an II account for me?

It could be anywhere from 2-6 weeks. In 2 weeks I would start calling Owner Services, because it might be awhile before they notify you. All they send to resale owners is a welcome letter, and they are in no hurry to get those out.

When you call Owner Services, you need to have the recorded deed at hand:

888.986.9637 or 407.903.4635.

You automatically get a II Acct with a mandatory resort, but you have to set it up, once the transfer has been recorded with Starwood.

Just a note about terms:

The trading value of your timeshare in the Starwood system is called StarOPTIONS

In the Starwood hotel system, they use StarPOINTS. So to avoid confusion, you will want to call your timeshare "points," Staroptions.

So Starwood completed the transfer. I guess now I need to register for an Interval account. Can I just register on my own at intervalworld.com or do they send me something?

I registered on the SVN website and was able to connect the ownership to my account, that was pretty easy.

how do I set it up? I tried registering on the II website and got to a point where it tried to charge me for membership so I bailed on the process.

I was wondering about this too. I emailed my newly recorded WSJ  deed along with a PDF copy of my current ownership at SVV. I am hoping that since I gave them both sets of documents together that they are going to link both ownerships to my already established account on MSC. I have been checking the MSC account to see if the new one is attached. Nothing yet, but it has been less than a week.

Only issue I can see is I owned SVV before we got married so it is solely in my name. The new WSJ deed is in both our names, but I made sure they put my name on the deed first. (That is what one of the sales people recommended last year when we almost bought from the developer.)

TUG saved us from buying direct (twice I am embarrassed to admit) both times I came back from the sales meeting got on TUG saw the resale prices and rescinded our purchase. I even left all my CC & ID back in the room on purpose last time, still sucked us in. Oh well came to my senses once we got out of the fog of the sales presentation.

Unfortunately, your weeks will be in separate MSC accounts. I have been told that weeks can only be in the same account if the names on the title match exactly, including middle initials, etc.

Interestingly, I have the opposite problem. I own many weeks and I want to split them into more than one MSC account because the large number of weeks makes it very slow to book StarOption reservations which then makes it hard to get high demand weeks at midnight Eastern time. I've been told that I cannot split them unless they're retitled so that the names aren't exactly the same. :(

Interesting. How many weeks do you own and why do you think it is causing your MSC account to behave more slowly than others'? I have not had any issues with midnight bookings with 8 weeks + banked SOs in my MSC account...

Not true. How Gina does it, it should work. I have one Starwood timeshare soley in my name. When I bought others, my name was lised first and spouse's name was listed as the second name. They all appear under my Stawood account. The main thing is to put the existing Starwood account on the paperwork when sending title transfer to Starwood.

I wonder if I will be able to book using all the options for example my 81000 SVV + 176700 WSJ to get a 257,700 reservation? Kind of pointless if I can't book at midnight eastern because it would say I don't have enough options for that. I wonder how hard it is to get the title changed to either add hubby to SVV or remove hubby from WSJ?:wall:

When we almost bought from the developer, the salesperson at WSJ said to put my name first that would link the accounts. Surprise he didn't know what he was talking about!

And they wonder why I always answer the survey question "Would you recommed SVO to a friend? and I say "No, it's too complicated" I see peoples eyes glaze over when I try to explain I have options and I have points, I have SVN but I can go through II, I have to wait until 8 months out to reserve unless it's my home resort then I can reserve at 12 months unless I want a larger/smaller unit... Then I get response from friends " I think I will just stay in a hotel"

Sandy - if the Staroptions are in 2 different Accts., you won't be able to combine them.

There is an easy solution - for about $150 you can re-deed the timeshares so they are the same.

This is the title company that I use - they are Tuggers:

My point is that they won't be in different accounts if Starwood is told to put the timeshares under the same account. Mine works just fine.

I did ask that they put them on the same account. I sent my deed along with the PDF of my ownership info from SVV. I guess it is a wait and see what happens. If I have to spend $150 to add hubby to SVV that is ok too.

Thanx, Gina

It would also be a very easy do it yourself transfer and only cost you minimal time and money. I recently transferred our SVV ownership from joint marital name to my trust account.

Gave them a call and they said it takes 45 days or so and they will send me something when its ready to go. Surprised it takes so long, but whatever. I was hoping to deposit the week right away to get the best value for it as a trader.

Remember that Starwood isn't too excited about resale owners. ;)

Totally, they should be though, someone has to pay the maintenance fees and give them positive reviews.

The plus side is getting set up with them wasn't too bad. If I had the time, I would have been able to book something within SVN pretty much right away.

So was it II that told you 45 days?

He is going to have a Starwood II Acct. as part of his SVN membership, so it should have been Starwood.

So glad you are a happy RESALE timeshare owner! We could turn this industry upside down if your story were the norm, vs the exception!

well done!
