After attending a sales presentation in Vegas over the weekend, I bought 5,000 points in the US Collection Trust (not a deeded property). At no time did the sales rep mention a home week or home base location. Am I correct in understanding that "home weeks" are only for the deeded interest properties, and the way the points work is I can use them at any location?

I swear I did my research before getting into this, but then reading Reddit threads and other communities has me doubting myself and this purchase.

Rescind while you can! There’s plenty of time for you to figure out if this is right purchase for you (spoiler alert: it is probably not,j but you only have a limited time to rescind. Get that letter is the USPS ASAP, If it is not already too late.

@metaldragon US Collection is former Diamond HVC trust points. Rescind ASAP. These are worthless and people have difficulties giving them away.

As others stated above, you can always go back later to get that deal if you research and think it is best (it is not). However you only have a few days to rescind or you are stuck with this terrible deal.

You should immediately rescind and start reading. most notably the difference between HGVC (what you think you bought) and HVC (what you actually bought)

congrats, you just dodged a many thousand dollar bullet! most do not!

Congrats on researching. As others have posted, what they sold to you for thousands of dollars is something you would have a hard time giving it away even after you paid it off.

Nevada has a 5 calendar day rescission period. That means the clock is ticking if you purchased this past weekend.

Write a simple letter stating you are cancelling the contract. You don’t need to provide a reason. All parties on the contract must sign the rescission letter. Mail it USPS certified receipt as that is your proof that you rescinded on time (postmark is key, not when they receive it). Finally, they may then call stating that they must talk to you first before they can process your rescission. That is false and is likely the sales department who wants to talk you out of rescinding.

As long as you send the letter within those five days HGV will process your rescission and the state of Nevada says that HGV has up to 20 days to refund all money. If you send the letter on day six, you are out of luck so get the letter out today!

Once you have rescinded and still think that timesharing may be for you, use your saved money to spend $15 and become a TUG member. Read the forums and ask questions. There are many timeshares available for fraction of the cost that would provide a much better experience than what you just purchased. The key is just finding out what works best for you.

I would buy Hilton resale in Vegas at one of the lowest maintenance fees for a lot less and actually own something that has value. Hiltons are generally better than Diamond and Bluegreen.

agreed, you could legitimately have a WONDERFUL HGVC points ownership for far less than you paid for that worthless HVC ownership you were sold.

If you look at HGVC resell in Las Vegas look for a 2 bedroom Platinum. The cost will be a little bit more than a Gold. The Maintenance Fees are the same for a Gold or Platinum because they set set by Unit Size but you get a lot more Points to use elsewhere for a Platinum.
