New Marriott Vacation Club Ownership levels announced

If I can buy a week or two in Spain to qualify my other weeks, make them enrolled, and get to Chairman, that is basically what my plan already was and would still do that. Pending the cost to do so. Also pending us figuring out exactly what the total package we want to own is.
Have you calculated what the value of the benefits you obtain by reaching Chairman status? Seems like consensus here is the break even timeline is like 432 years.

That’s doubly interesting as -going by the rules- that eBay purchase shouldn’t be eligible to enroll. I’m spinning this story in my head where someone got it switched to internal back office in order to close your enrollment sale and avoid any attention.

This has been reported to have happened for a long time in regards to resale weeks being incorrectly designated with full benefits, at least re Vistana weeks. It happened to me ~20 years ago.

Are new levels allegedly going live today? Anyone get “upgraded in status?”

Yeah there isn't much value to Chairman, I'm mainly looking for the increased flexibility of enrolled weeks. Of course depending on the cost.

No change as of 10:30 AM EDT. MVC site still shows Chairman’s Club as the highest level.

Just heard that the changes will go live on June 8th as it's a large update for the system.

So make any reservation you can now and then check them again whenever they get the system back up and running. You just know they’re going to FUBAR this update when it happens

If you are interested in enrollment just got an offer in France for $19,100 for the 3 bedroom lockoff gold season with MF $2400 and abound point 3200 to enroll my 2 bedroom seafront at playa. Point allocation not that great but if you plan on using it which I would but I chose to take the encore package instead to use for Marbella .
Of course this was an attempt to get me on my way to Pinnacle. They did acknowledge that I was reserve with 26,600 points. Whereas in Aruba they did not even mention I was going to be grandfathered into reserve and attempted to get me to buy more to get there.

We were just at the Paris MVC location at Christimas. Nice resort, though hard to really enjoy in late December. But a great location for traveling around the area.

I haven't been to the Westin concierge since arriving on 5/24. I am thinking of going by today. Our daughter-in-law said they are only offering $100 for a presentation. Rick would never agree to that.

Is that really all they are offering now? What a waste of time on Maui that would be for us at $100!

Do they still offer beach bags for Westin owners? I think they are only giving totes. So disappointing to get a shopping bag.

I have been in June and September. June is much better with longer days. Lavender is already blooming.

We are already planning another trip; but we have too many plans already LOL. Trying to get back to Marbella, just booked Maui, heading to Aruba tomorrow, have an OGS for somewhere for spring break, planning a scuba diving centric trip somewhere ... too many vacation needs, not enough time off work/school.

I did get a beach bag. I got a pretty blue and gray beach bag. I am going to give it to the kids.

Is that the "New" MVC's Chairman's Club & Presidential Bag? MVC needs to get going, producing the thousands+ Reserve - Pinnacle fluorescent Yellow and Orange bags.

Haha a good problem to have. Enjoy Aruba. Just got back in May.

Guess we may need to start a new thread on Mon June 8th tracking system problems (again)

Going to grab a few bags of SkinnyPop from Costco tomorrow and sit back for the show

With my Chairman 60 day booking discount jumping to 40%, without buying anything more, our payback is almost instant. We use that perk on most stays !

Yeah, that one really surprised me. It's not like them to give anything for nothing!
My guess is that they wanted to give us something in return for taking away the discount for unaccompanied family. That’s fine, we use a lot of last minute ressy’s for ourselves. I’m curious how this will play out technically though. Will there be a checkbox to say “I’m not staying with my friends, charge me full price?” Or will they claw back the discount when you change the arriving guest?

CHECK-IN
They could apply the policy they use for Hotel/Bonvoy reservations [e.g. Corp/Military Discount].
If you don't have Valid-ID to show eligibility, the price reverts to Retail/Rack rate.
Since it's a Points-Reservation [unlike Cash/CC] it would be complicated [almost impossible] to change the #-Points so they could simply deny Check-In.

ONLINE
The better option would be to implement a validation at the time of Booking/Name-Change.
If the Guest-Name matches 1 or more of the Owners [they already have this list], the discount will apply.

Re: the change to the 60-day discounts, in my view it’s more of an adjustment to manage occupancy levels while providing sales incentives than a sign of generosity on the part of MVW. After all, they can use vacant units however they want at the 60-day point and have extensive experience with how well they can monetize them by renting. This is an adjustment to how they use them likely supported by data showing it will be more profitable in the long run through the usage of points, additional sales opportunities, etc. Empty rooms don’t make anyone money.

I can see an argument that owners coming in are more likely to buy than their relatives who stay for free (to them), so why extend the discounts to family. Might be a stretch to rationalize the choice they made, though.

I completely agree. These higher discounts are more in line with what people have already been paying for this remaining 60-day inventory via Destination Escapes or other channels like II. If MVW had wanted to provide something of actual value to Reserve and Pinnacle owners, they would have lengthened their booking window on "last-minute" reservations to 90 and/or 120 days. But they didn't. MVW chose to try to solve their own problems instead.

That would have been nice, but would conflict with the 60-day usage by the developer. Though I guess they could have actually paid for the discounts with developer points.

Could you elaborate on what "the 60-day usage by the developer" is?
