I didn't get any interest in renting this week so I came down and checked in today. I have tests and Dr appointments this week so it will sit empty and I'll come back Friday.

We were placed in a new building, number 66 just finished recently, right next to the fitness center with the next building going up across the street. Its a handicap unit, no closet in the bedroom due to the walk in shower room. Not a big deal to us, they could have made a closet instead of the desk nook in the kitchen.

I'll add some pics later when I get home, we just checked in, took a hot tub and going to dinner and back home.

I was checked in by Mitch, he used to work for Wyndham in Kona. He tried to charge me the resort fee, so I told him I was an HGVC owner and he waived the daily fee, good to know.

Hi Dave. The rooms looks nice. I didn't have a pool facing balcony when I had a newer room last time. I don't remember which building I was in, but the balconies faced the parking lot.

Were you staying via GPX exchange? Since I own there, I've always used that reason to not pay the resort fee, but I may it is a contract I probably won't keep and it would be nice if the fee was still waived if I were still a HGVC owner.

When you come back next weekend, do you want to have a little Tug get together? Twenty/20 Grille is right there or we can go somewhere else if you are able to. We have so many southern California Tuggers, I always think about trying to schedule a casual meet up. I would be available Sat or Sun.

Dang, you already left?

Can we have your wristbands? ;-)

I won't be able to hang this weekend. I'm leaving for FL on Thursday.

I was on an SFX booking, but Mitch thought it was RCI. He waived it quickly when I told him I owned at Kingsland, I was looking at the SFX res and it did not mention the fee like GPX reservations do.

My wife is leaving for NYC this Wed so it will be just myself and son, we can do lunch at 20-20 Sat if you like. Maybe we need to invite crazy Pete and educate him on using hgvc, I could have used his NYC points, its costing $1500 for 4 nights in a hotel in Times Square...

No wristbands, I dodged the body snatchers on the front desks offering a "welcome packet". I got keys and a parking pass so I was good to go. The pool bar is closed for the season, only one pool is heated, so there wasn't anyone around to enforce wrist bands. Towels are out on carts too, I thought last time they were in the room with threat of a fee for missing towels.

Josie headed east too, enjoy your trip.

Can I let you know on Friday? My husband just told me he might have a seminar on Saturday.

I did think about Crazy, lol. I was thinking if we were all there, you, Buzz, Greg, Me and any other local HGVC owners, we could really explain everything to him. It's awful to read about expiring points and stuff like that when it's actually such a flexible system. Of course, $80K for 5,000 points would make me crazy, too.

Other than the handicap features, these pictures look pretty much like the unit we had in 2014.

The pool view seems nice, we had a view of a berm or dirt embankment holding up the parking lot above. Probably the worst "view" i have had in my HGVC experiences.. While i did not like the view, i have to say i have certainly had worse views in some hotels on business stays.. I don't think you should book any of the HGVC Carlsbad rooms for the view.. .

New building going up across the road from the pool, they will have a Legoland Waterpark view. Its all steel construction, going together like an erector set.
