We recently bought 7000 ( Shell) resale points and looking to exchanging for one week holiday in Feb/March 2009 in Mexico with our kids/spouses. Looking for advice with following:
1/ Booking. I've heard that one can exchange two for one from SVC to RCI?? Need accomodation for three couples and two singles so would likely need 2 two bedroom units with kitchenettes.
2/ Are all inclusives available at these resorts? Given the numbers this would be more convenient.
3/ Other suggestions relating to above, future bookings with SVC, etc., however small is appreciated.
I must bank the points by Sept 1.
Thanks in advance.

I am not familiar with "points systems" but the first question I'd have is if you bought from the developer. If you did buy from the developer you ought to seriously consider resinding and looking for something that suits your needs on eBay or through some other re-sale means.

As far as exchanging goes, I've exchanged for upto a 3-Bedroom/2-Bathroom (using the 1B portion of my split deposit). My point there is that there are plenty of opportunities to exchange, only I don't know what your points are worth.

Good luck!!

I don't have any idea about how SVC points work in conjunction with RCI, but you might first want to decide where in Mexico you want to go.

There are fewer two-bedroom units available in Mexico, generally speaking. If you want to go the AI route, there will likely be no kitchenettes as you wouldn't really need one.

If you were to choose Cabo or Puerto Vallarta, you probably wouldn't want to go AI as there are lots of restaurants to choose from. There are more AI resorts in the Cancun area.

If you are traveling from B.C., it might be easier for you to get to Cabo or Puerto Vallarta since they are on the west coast.

Since you mentioned you bought resale points, I assume you did not buy from a developer.

I attended their sales pitch and initially bought at over $6.00/pt. We ended up cancelling and bought 7000 resale for just under $2.00/pt.
Thanks
