New incentives at Lagunamar?

I was contacted by our rep at Lagunamar stating he wanted to offer us a purchase citing prices that are so low as he has not seen since 2009. Since my husband was way for the weekend, we agreed he could call on Monday. Anybody know what he could be talking about? Could it be the Flex program? We own a 2 bedroom at Lagunamar and also at Vistana Villages. We are not willing to give up our Lagunamar week, but would consider turning over our Vistana Villages week if the price was right and if it was NOT the Flex program. We are simply not interested in staying any where else in Mexico.

Could be Aventuras. Or it could also be that they have a week for sale at Lagunamar. When I was at WKV they offered to sell me a plat week - didn’t really push flex at all. Said they could only do a weeks deed deal on site.

I would bet it is Aventuras flex. They might retro your Lagunamar if it is not already part of the network

What was their price for the WKV Platinum?

Here is the link to my post from January. 2BR Plat was 48k. Way too expensive relative to resale.

I wish they would take my Vistana Villages in exchange for a unit at Lagunamar with no extra money, I would take it. I know I am dreaming, but ........ I would rather have 2 weeks at Lagunamar (that I could break into 4 weeks) than one at Villages and one at Lagunamar. Even with the higher yearly fees at Lagunamar I wouldn't mind as it is such a better resort than Villages. I will let you know what the offer is.

Sure, let us know, just don't set your expectations high. The best offer to date is about 8k to convert a resale week so I am curious if that has changed

Why not just sell or give away the SVV week and go out and buy another week at Lagunamar? Not sure if your SVV week is voluntary or mandatory and what season you want at Lagunamar, but chances are the end additional cost wouldn't be more than several thousand dollars. What do Lagunamar Plat+ weeks sell for? That would be the additional cost, at most, if any.

She will save on maintenance fees and even if Lagunamar is more expensive upfront, she will probably break even in 3-4 years.

Thought she said Lagunamar had higher MFs. How does that have a pay back?

Yes, the fees are about $300/yr more at Lagunamar than at our Vistana Villages. Both are 2 bedroom lock offs.

Your cost per Staroption at Bella is significantly higher than at Lagunamar.

No SO at Lagunamar on resale. Or did you mean to say that the MF for the SVV SO required to book the equivalent week at Lagunamar is more expensive than the Lagunamar MF?

I think @dioxide45 has given good advice. Nothing wrong with owning the week there if that is what you will use on a regular basis. You can probably retro it in at a later date if you wanted the SO.

Again, we pay about $300 more per year in member fees at our 2 bedroom lock-off at Lagunamar than at our 2 bedroom lock-off at Vistana Villages St. Augustine. I could be the different seasons we own possibly?

With the Staroptions from a 2 BR platinum at SVV you do not have enough points to book a 2 BR platinum at Lagunamar

Not necessarily. Many SVV 2bd units come with 81000 StarOptions (others have 67100 or 95700 SO's; it depends on unit type and season); a 2bd at Lagunamar during low season costs 81000 SO's. Not platinum season, but Lagunamar in December or January (low season) is nice.

When I first read this thread, my thought was "why?" -- if it's not broken, don't fix it. If OP is getting to Lagunamar often enough and for long enough with what she owns, why pay anything (including even transaction costs) to change it?

@Yellowfin did say that SVV does not give enough SOs to book a 2BR platinum Lagunamar. That was a correct statement. We don't know if the OPs SVV even comes with StarOptions. If it doesn't, the only way they can use it to go to Lagunamar is to trade through II. The annual fee and the exchange fee probably come close to the difference in MFs. If their SVV week is enrolled, they are paying an annual VSN fee. That may not be factored in here. So if they sold that SVV and bought Lagunamar, then the difference in total fees won't be $300 because a resale Lagunamar won't have the VSN fee.

My advise is to own Lagunamar platinum for high season, use SO for mid season like January and buy getaways or use AC for the rest of the year.

Yes, our SVV comes with StarOptions as does our LAgunamar. Still waiting for the call from our rep at LAgunamar.
