Hi- I have been researching Timeshares for weeks now, I want to get into an RCI property, my top picks are Vacation Village at Pkwy and Grandview in Vegas. Just looking to hear from some existing/past owners in either property and any advice for a newbie like myself- definitely looking on the resale market. Anything I should know before buying? Grandview is at its best in RCI points if you find a prime week. I don't remember the exact weeks, buy they are around October. Of course, because of this, you will pay more for a prime week. a 122k went for $3,600 on ebay last month, and another for $1,600.

The cool thing is that a 1 BR is exactly half the MF of a 2BR, and provides exactly half the RCI points, so finding a 2BR for sale or two 1BR for sale is exactly the same math.

That's a genius idea to buy 2 1-bedrooms if I cannot find a good deal on a 2.. however will they allow me to turn the two 1 bedrooms into a 2 bedroom for my annual week if I wanted to?

At this resort - a 2 bdm. is simply two 1-bedrooms that are side by side. So it should be easy to request that they assign you to 2 adjacent units.

If you have small children, this is not a ideal set-up, because you will literally be in different units with a common foyer.

I used to own VV AT Parkview and sold it and have two Grandview where I get a lot better point for my MF also if you buy in Orlando and ever want to trade into Disney in Orlando you are not allowed to through RCI..... I don't know if they allow it using another trader if its NOT within I think 50 miles of Disney.... I am sure you can get that answer from someone else.... Dave

Since you stated that you are a newbie... Why not get into a point system that offers you the flexibility of internal exchanges as well as external exchanges thru RCI.

A point systen such as Wyndham points... You can exchange your points within the multitude of timeshares that wyndham owns(internal) or you can deposit(and can looks whats available at the time,prior to)your points for an RCI exchange. This offers more versitility as your needs over time may change.

Having a resort with a generous ratio of MF to Points, at reasonable cost, that is unlikely to become a 'giveaway' at some point, and it being within reasonable driving distance from home is not a bad plan.

Think carefully before getting involved with Wydham or HGVC. They'll cost more to buy and the maintenance fees are much higher. I own a platinum Grandview with 122k points with low maintenance fees--- and the cost per point in exchanges to HGVC or Wyndham is ridiculously low. Same goes for exchanges into Disney Vacation Club. You live close enough to use the week if you wanted-and I really like the resort for its unique 2 one bedroom units And its proximity to the Southpoint Casino.

Listen to Jim, Ashley. And also to Icydog and Dave- living close to a resort you can drive to and that you can easily exchange into Orlando- is a good idea.

Grandview sounds like a good option, but- like Denise said- if you have small kids or plan on having children- the 2 bedroom set up is not good and you would probably always have to exchange it to go somewhere else until the kids are older and can be in the separate bedroom area by themselves.

Vacation Village 2 bedroom is also 2 one bedroom lock outs. A larger and smaller unit.

'2 bedrooms' at Grandview are really two- one bedroom units with a connecting vestibule entrance (see post #4). We have had success booking two units and asking ahead of time for them to be adjoining and found this to be the case. They seem quite accommodating with that request.

But forgive me for asking but I notice this deal you are bidding on has been converted to RCI Points. If you are going to use it yourself, why bother with the points? 'Course if you want, you can use one unit and take the points on the other one if you want to see some new territory.

The one thing you need to check, and I don't know the answer to this, is whether you can combine 2 1BR that have different use weeks internally, or whether you would have to go through exchange to do that. If they have the same use week, this wouldn't be an issue.
