I don't remember where I heard or read this, or whether it's true, or even if I'm remembering right, but the information I picked up is that the huge abandoned motel tract right there at the intersection of I-4 & Rt. 192 apparently has major serious infrastructure issues -- i.e., poor drainage, lack of sanitary sewer access & no utility water service.
Apparently the old 2-level motels had well water & used septic tanks. If that's the case, then site preparation will be extensive & costly before they ever get round to putting in new hotels & entertainment attractions.
I had always thought the location (not the site condition, but just where the real estate sits on the ground) would make it logical for future expansion of Vacation Village At Parkway. If so, that extension would be far in the future. As it is now, Vacation Village At Parkway hasn't even completed the new towers they built on the site of the old Arabian Nights dinner show complex. Before they spend the money for that, I guess they want to sell out their "new" buildings closest to Rt. 192 -- "new" buildings that aren't all that new, after opening 3 years or so in the past.
