New Disney Inspire Credit Card Launch

Seems like a good return on the $149 annual fee for anyone that takes a Disney park or cruise vacation annually.

Don’t do Disney, but just sent the info to a friend who goes at least 4-5 times per year.

It's not really a great card for me. I can get 5X Chase UR points by paying MF's with gift cards that I buy at office supply stores. For $15,000+ annually in fees, I get 75,000 UR points, which translate to about $750 in airfare with Points Boost booking United. It's kind of confusing but it's better, believe me.

I think DVC maintenance fees are excluded from the bonuses anyway if I read it right.

But how much better? Is it 10% more value. 20%? Don't you also have to consider the gift card activation fees into the savings? For some it may not be worth the extra effort for what could just be a small incremental benefit. Perhaps United doesn't work for everyone. Perhaps people don't fly as often or at all. What works for one person doesn't work for someone else. It's good to have choices.

If DVC MF count then it would be easy to get the $200 in Disney bucks annually. Then when we renew our AP we would get the $100 credit. Makes sense for wife and I to each get the Disney Inspire card. Would be worth $150 after AF for what we pay for annually.

The gas rewards might make it worth it for me. We already spend a good amount at Disney every year. It is a good gas reward, not great.

If you are a Costco member, the Costco Visa has 5% rebate for fuel at Costco gas stations and 4% every where else.

We go 3 times a year and stay at DVCs. If we charged $2000 to our room in April we would get a $300 credit lowering the cost to $1,700 plus get a $300 giftcard for the spend and $200 for the stay. Then my wife could get a card for our September trip and we could do the same. Further we could then renew our annual passes and get $100 each in giftcards. That would total $1,200 in gift cards towards our annual maintenance fees plus 3% of about $6,000 or another $180 for a total of $1,380 in giftcards. Therefore l, for a total out of pocket spend of about $5,400 we would get almost $2,000 in benefits, the $1,380 plus $600 chase credits.

Yes! The Costco visa is definitely the best for gas! Especially with the bump up to 5% this year on Costco gas!

My wife (who pays all the bills) likes staying in one ecosystem. I have a huge amount of spend at Costco, but have problems with Citi so I have never gotten the card.

Gift card activation fees usually apply to Mastercard and Visa gift cards. I've never paid an activation fee for business-specific gift cards (e.g. Disney, Target, etc.).

True, but Cindy indicated she was buying gift cards to pay her maintenance fees. Those would have to be Mastercard or Visa. Perhaps the amount loaded to the card is high anyway and the activation fee is minuscule anyway.

Disney timeshares accept Disney gift cards for maintenance fees. I do it all the time.

Me too. Ink Preffered gets 5x on Disney gift cards from office supply stores. Use it not only for my $4k in MF but for other in park purchases as well. No activation fee.

A couple times the clerk asked “Is someone making you buy these gift cards?” My answer “Yes - a mouse” 😃

We buy Disney gift cards.

Good to know. I didn't realize, or perhaps forgot, that Disney gift cards could be used to pay DVC maintenance fees.

Thank you for the heads up...I was just approved.

$600 in 'free' money upfront plus every year it costs $149 to get $300 back...

$200 back on $2000 DCL and/or resort spend and $100 back for putting $100 of ticket spend...

I'm not sure I'll use it for anything else until I find out what qualifies as "select"..."Discounts of 10% to 15% for eligible purchases at Disneyland and Disney World (10% off select merchandise, 10% off select dining, 10% off select recreation and 15% off select guided tours".

We bought something at Poly today and were told the Disney Visa discount was 10% - but either AP or DVC would give us 20%, so you can guess which discount we used.

PS I got the Inspire card last week, the day before we left for Orlando, and was able to add it to my Apple Wallet via the Chase app, even though I don’t have the physical card yet and don’t know the full account number or CVV. I’ve been using it everywhere that Apple Pay is available, working on that $1,000 spend!
