Grrrrr:annoyed: We always pay our monthly Visa card in full by calling Chase -- well yesterday the automated voice informs us there will be a $9.00 charge to pay bill that way now.

Sooo, back to snail mail because DH is afraid of online charging :(

Call back and speak to a representative. They will process the payment and waive the fee.

Pay online - no fees

You can pay online - go to the Chase site and set it up - actually very easy.
Then you can set up a pay date for the payment.
I have been doing this for years.
Just make sure if the payment is due "today", you go online early enough in the day to meet the posting requirements of the bank. If you are going out of town, you can set it up for the payment to be made next week or whenever. Saves postage and headaches.

I third the online payment ease. I actually have it set up that I automically pays the balance in full each due date. This payment is debited from one of my checking accounts. I do not have to do anything each month except check the statement to ensure the charges are all correct!

;)

We use the auto pay feature that pays the balance in full on the due date each month. If we get a credit or pre-pay on something the system automatically adjusts what is taken on the due date. Very slick and eliminates any worries about paying the credit card timely but not early. There is no fee for this.

I've used the autoopay feature also for at least a year. Never have to worry about paying on-time, writing a check and mailing, etc.

Just have to make sure there's enough money in the checking account.

Cathy,

Tell your husband to get with the times! We pay most of our bills online now through online banking. It's so darn easy and totally secure. Talk to your bank about it and can reassure you.

Chase isn't the only bank that tack's on a service charge for paying by phone. I quit doing that years ago because of the additional fee's.

Your husband is going to have to suck it up and get with the times, learn to live without CC's or risk the always fun, "you're check did not get processed in time so here's a late fee."

I've been paying bills online for several years now and will also utilized any autopay features (minimum payment in my case) so that I don't forget to make a payment or, mess up and schedule the payment for the next month rather than the current month (did that once with BOA). I don't use the automatic payment option to pay the bill in full in the event there's some sort of emergancy and I forget to change it. I'd hate to have to much money taken out of the account after I'd paid to have something unexpectedly like a new water heater, repair to furnace or ac or any other little emergancy that can befall a person without much warning.
