New artifacts coming to Titanic exhibition at Luxor

By Paul Szydelko / USA / Travel Weekly / travelweekly.com / Dec 30, 2019

“"Titanic: The Artifact Exhibition" at the Luxor Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas will introduce 108 artifacts in January.

The new artifacts include 20 never-before-seen items as well as items that have never been on display in the Las Vegas exhibition. They will include: a chef's hat; a first class smoking room chandelier; the sole of a golf shoe; a bain-marie cooking pot; an alligator-skin wallet; and the calling card of a passenger named Madame Zephey....”

A 15-ton section of the Titanic's starboard hull, called the "Big Piece," is on display.

I was just thinking about that exhibit - wondering if it was still there. I'll have to see it again whenever I go to Vegas.

I, too, will have to make a point of visiting the Luxor next time we are in Las Vegas.

Halifax, Nova Scotia, was one of the ports where victims of the RMS Titanic were received and buried, and the closest major port to the location of the actual sinking. Several victims were buried in a cemetery there and their gravestones may still be seen and visited today. The Maritime Museum of the Atlantic on the Halifax harbourfront also has an interesting and fairly extensive display, together with artifacts, on the sinking of the Titanic.

Prior to the discovery of the location of the remains of the Titanic, it was one of the few places where you could see artifacts from the Titanic itself.
