Need help from experienced Caribbean timesharers

Oldest son announced his engagement. Boldly following the path blazed by his sister, he and DIL2B have decided on a Caribbean island wedding. They've decided on Grand Cayman the third or fourth week of May 2009.

So, I'm starting to work on the accommodations component. I need help as to what the best options are for working at least two, if not three, exchanges to the same resort (most likely East End) with check-in days that aren't offset by more than one day.

Is it realistic to expect an exchange company to be able to produce three exchanges?? Which resorts are float time where I might have the best opportunity to line up with several owners for direct exchange in which I might be able to have the owner pick the check-in date for us?

Any other suggestions?? II and independent exchange companies work best for us.

back in 2005, i really needed 3 2bedroom villas at the marriott ocean club. LOOKED ON LINE WITH II EVERYDAY and found them. of course, i was looking for the off season(september) and was using marriotts to exchange,but i got them and everyone had a great time.

East end + II = Reef resort and Castaway Cove as there aren't any other II resorts on east end.

Chances of 3 trades in short order is exceptionally low. The mf's are so high (>$1,000) that trading these weeks isn't a logical economic option in many cases. A good many owners will opt to rent their weeks out instead.

If you have something of value to offer for direct exchange I'm game - fire off a PM if you're interested. I know a couple other owners so I could ask if they might be interested if you want to go down that road.

I know you said "exchange", but you might want to check SkyAuction. They have several units at Morritt''s Tortuga up for auction, pretty cheap. OK to visit, just don't buy there.

I've checked the rental sites, and I know we can go that route if necessary. But since we own more timeshares than we can currently use, and I can leverage those through bonus weeks, I see the rental market as a last resort.

Further, since we're talking about May in the Caribbean, I'm pretty sure a lot of that inventory will be discounted less than 60 days before check-in. So I have little interest right now in doing rentals. If we're still hanging open in four or five months I might reconsider.

But right now my research is telling me that landing three or four units for the same week in May in Grand Cayman shouldn't be a problem.
