Hi,
We traded into II and are going to the Hyatt Vacation Club at Hacienda del Mar in Puerto Rico at the end of January. We are Sheraton/Westin and Marriott owners and this is our first time at a Hyatt Vacation Club. Would you recommend renting a car? Are any view options better than others if put in a request, which I know may or may not be honored? Thanks!

I recommend having a car. I was there last year for only 3 nights and it was fine because we didn't leave the resort but I think if I stayed a full week I would want a car. Uber is available but not as convenient as being in San Juan. You might have to wait a while for a car.

We are staying at the resort in early January for four nights before staying one night in San Juan and then boarding a cruise. We decided to rent a car, as there is a Costco we will likely visit for some provisions and we also will likely want to explore the island a bit. We will return the car at the airport prior to staying the final night in a hotel in San Juan. If we were going to be at the resort for an entire week, we would definitely want a car to explore the island.

We were there in January 2023. Definitely you will want a car, especially if you want to do any sightseeing off the property. It is an easy drive from San Juan to the Hyatt resort. Pretty much all rooms face the ocean, so you just want to be 5th floor or higher. There are two buildings, and if I remember properly, they are building A and building B. Building B is newer, but all were renovated a few years ago after one of the way too many hurricanes recently.

Usually with Hyatt via II you get the unit number that's listed in the history section of your II account.
There's nothing much in walking distance so a car is useful.
Great resort, enjoy.

Yes, was there a few years ago during covid. A car is a necessity since the resort is fairy remote. The is only one resturant on the property.
I really liked the resort, the units and especially the beach. Hope to be able to get back there someday and do a lot more exploring of the island. A visit to Old Town San Juan is a must.
