Fellow Tuggers.

I am trying to find out if anyone has had problems making a Saturday to Saturday reservation 12 months out for a Oceanfront view during weeks 33, 34, or 35. We are considering purchasing a resale Gold Week Oceanfront. We would use it for either the week before Easter (Spring Break), different every year, or during August before school starts in September, the day after Labor Day. I am very diligent about calling the 1st day allowed to make a reservation. Thanks.

Can someone also tell me how you would make a reservation for a different (lower) season.

You can't make a reservation for another season.

You can make a reservation in your season and then attempt to trade it for a week in another season.

For gold season, the August weeks are the the most popular and thus the hardest to secure. You will need to be on the phone at 9:00am eastern time on inventory release day. Even then, you have no guaranty.

You have gotten some very helpful answers here. I will add this...
FWIW, we have a MOW platinum week and have never had an issue making a reservation 12 months out.

This was our first year booking the August gold weeks at MOW. We were on the phone and online at 9am for week 33 for any checkin. We were unable to secure it. Marriott says they were experiencing heavy traffic that day when we talked with them. The following week we had no issue securing week 34 Saturday check in. Again only one year experience for us but in my research I agree with others when they say it's a popular few weeks.

Since we own multiple weeks we have never had a problem securing week 33 & 34, back to back.

I do know from talking to management that week 33 is one of their busiest weeks of the year and the resort reflects it. It's the last week before school starts back in NC. Could be the same for other states as well. Week 34 and 35 shouldn't be a problem. There is a noticeable drop in the crowds on the beach and resort for both of those weeks.

As others have already said, the Gold weeks in August are the most sought after of all Gold weeks at MOW. For people living in the northeast, children are not in school yet so this time is still available to travel as a family. Many owners at MOW own multiple weeks at both MOW and other Marriott resorts that that gives them the ability to book 13 months out as long as the weeks are sequential. It is not impossible to get these weeks with just one Gold week, but it is not an easy or guaranteed process.

We are also considering a Gold MOW. Talking to Sales Desk they were a wealth of info. To confirm other comments here, don't do it if you plan on using it for Week 33. I was told that would be near impossible. Especially if we only owned 1 Marriott week and could only book 12 months out.

They did say Week 34 should not be a big issue 12 months out as the availability is much better.

So my takeaway is that if you are targeting Week 33 and have to have it, probably need to spend the money on Platinum or own 2 Marriott properties to get 13 month reservation ability. JMO.

Wish you the best on your decision

I own two gold weeks at MOW (bought the 2nd specifically so I could book 13 months out). I called in 13 months out at 9AM sharp and had a live agent by 9:05AM to book Sat - Sat for week 33 and all that was available was Sun-Sun on week 33. If I had it to do over again I'd skip gold week and just buy into platinum so you have more flexibility in planning a summer vacation (especially if you have kids).

Hope this helps.
