We will be going to our timeshare in Nueva Vallarta the first of Feb but due to airline constraints we will arrive on Jan 31. We tried to stay at the Casa Magna but they will not allow a one nighter. Any special places that we should try? We are up for going to Nueva Vallarta or Mismaloya or Bucerias or even Sayulita but not able to spend $500 at the 4 Seasons. Any suggestions? The Sheraton has been mentioned. We were wondering about any new places near Paradise Village but not inclusive for one night. Thanks

First you might try Paradise Village Look through the various travel sites (Expedia travelocity hotels.com travelzoo supersearch) and you might check Costco. In Puerto Vallarta there is a really nice hotel the Premier or perhaps Los Arcos which is in the old town. The Grand Mayan and the Mayan Palace in Nuevo Vallarta may be other options.

Check out www.craigslist.com then click Mexico, then click Puerto Vallarta, then click vacation rentals. There are many choices from hotel to vacation homes.

do you want a wonderful Mexican type hotel?
Pamela Thompson recommends Chez Elena, up the hill. We went for dinner there and I really would love to stay there a night if I needed one

We just got back from NV and stayed one extra night in PV. We stayed at the Fiesta Americana. It was WONDERFUL! We stayed in a club level room. We actually MUCH preferred it to the Villa del almar Flamingos. Even though it was only a hotel room, we would have preferred to stay there all week over the 1 bedroom, 2 bath at the VDPF. I don't want to offend anyone who likes NV, but we thought it was WAAAAAAY too far away from PV and nothing really to do there. Also, the water was not clear there, and it WAS CLEAR in PV. We decided that if we ever go back to PV, we will ONLY stay in PV, NV NEVER AGAIN. I plan to write a comprehensive review of the VDPF some time this week. (Overall, we were NOT impressed.)
