Heading next month for the first time, for room requests, any suggestions?

Also if anyone has any recommendations of what to do, we are a couple travelling without our kids, we like nice steak, shopping, cinema and seeing the sites at a chilled out pace.

What can we expect weather wise at the end of March (19-26th), bear in mind we live in Spain so used to nice weather, just wondering if its shorts or jeans type of weather?

I imagine the weather will be 65ish during the day. March can be windy/stormy at the beach. They heat the pools, so it's not terrible.

We love taking the shuttle down to Crystal Cove Beach. Try The Beachcomber Cafe (right on the beach at Crystal Cove).

We love going to Corona Del Mar Beach as well.

Sherman Gardens is a low key unique place that is fun to check out.

Ruby's on the pier at Newport Beach is a fun 1950's style diner.

Balboa Island has fun places to shop.

Seaside Donut Bakery is awesome for a treat. Try asking for some fresh donut holes. Yum.

My must do list includes a visit to cliff walkway between the water and rear of the Montage resort in Laguna Beach. Parking in public lot is usually easy. Google Montage to locate.

As for building/room suggestions - We like ocean view rooms (top floor) in building 2400. Good view, close to pools, bars, etc.

There is Fashion Island Mall which has some high end shopping and many restaurants. For grocery supplies, there is a Whole Foods in that same mall. As far as room selections we like the 4000- rooms. We stayed in 4500 on the third floor which had a nice ocean view. There are not as many trees in this area to block your view if you do not get a higher floor. The 2300-2800 area has a lot of trees. I would suggest either Inspiration Point or the Ritz Carlton Outdoor Lounge for getting wonderful sunset views. There is reasonable self parking across from the Ritz Carlton and free street parking for Inspiration Point. Here is a site map.IMG_4389.PNG

The free NCV shuttle drops off at the cliff walkway next to the Mexican restaurant. We like to chat with the artists on the cliff walk. Weirdest sight was a yoga class on SUP boards in the cove there.

If you don't have kids along we like 4800 or 4900 near the upper pool and tennis courts. The main pool and clubhouse was always packed with kids when we were there. There is a shuttle stop up there also and easy exit/entrance to the resort.

❤️❤️❤️ Montage. Did our wedding photos there as well as honeymoon. Awesome view.
Laguna Beach is a lovely area and have a ton of small eateries.
Crystal Cove Shopping Center has Mastero’s and Javiers but more importantly Trader Joe’s. Go further and there’s Salt Creek Grille.
Area was my stomping grounds for over a decade. Now we are further North.

We often stay twice a year.

Always make the same room request, any building in the 4xxx except the 47xx bldg. any floor except the ground floor.

Many of the other bldgs at the resort will have good views but some only the top floor. The 1xxx bldgs generally do not have much (if any views)

Hope this helps

PS We walk to the beach every day going down to the 14xx bldg then out to the road via the fire road. This is much easier than walking out the main entrance.

Sorry another question, from landing in LAX how long does it normally take to clear immigration, collect car hire and get to the resort? We land on a Thursday at 5pm.

If you look at the map in post #6 the ocean/beach are to the bottom and left of the map, rough parallel to the resort (see below). Make sure you have the Google maps app, as it will be very helpful on your visit.

Clearing immigration at Tom Bradley is a crapshoot... depending on what other flights are arriving, who knows. Assuming you are not a US passport holder, it could be 15 minutes or 2 hours.

LAX car rental is all offsite via shuttle. You are the middleish stop at Tom Bradley, so expect 20 to 60 minutes give or take depending on airport traffic.

You are arriving during rush hour. On a good day, NCV is just under an hour. Expect 2 hours to get there, though if border control and car rental wait times are long, you might even miss rush hour. I'd say if your flight arrives at 5pm on the nose, I'd guess around 8:30pm with a range from 7pm to 10pm.

Anyone recommend either Morton's or Flemings for a really good steak (filet mignon)?

If you participate with Flemings Brand rewards (Outback, Carrabba's, Bonefish & Flemings), you get double the discount with Flemings.
