This is a very nice resort in a great summer destination. I visited Chetola because I was considering buying a week there, but I have never been inside a unit. There is a nice lake, an upscale restaurant and bar, an indoor pool, and a hiking trail on site. The rooms are about 1400 square feet, which is a huge timeshare. I ended up buying a couple of weeks in Banner Elk and I love this area in both the summer and winter (if you like to ski). I will send you a pm with a list of area activities. I exchanged into this area several years ago, and I started looking at places to buy immediatelly. My vote is to keep it.

There are plenty of TUG reviews of this resort, including mine from last summer. Great location for hiking and exploring, big units, screened porch. The two bad things I remember was no outdoor pool (and it was over 90 degrees in August) and phone in the unit which did not work half the time.

Chetola Resort In May

It is good to hear positive remarks on this resort. I have a unit on hold for May 2010. Any information about the Resort and the Blowing Rock area would be appreciated. It sounds like a great Spring vacation!

May is a nice time, but not real warm. Close by is blowing rock attraction, mystery hill, tweetsie railroad, http://www.tweetsie.com/ and lots of places to hike and walk.
check out highcounty.com for more info.

I put a large list of things to do and web sites on the other chetola thread. I stayed there in December on a trade and it is great unless you are on a bottom floor. The noise of people walking upstairs is terrible. The restaurant onsite was very nice but I thought the food was just OK. Lot's of great places to eat in the area. Ask at the front desk and they can advise you. We mainly ate in room as we were there for the kids (and myself one day) to ski. After a day on the slopes back to the room, eat, and they went to bed tired.

Except for skiing I like summer in the area much better. When it is 98 degrees in July at home, it is in the low 80's in Banner Elk and Blowing Rock. Some of the nights in the summer will get to the low 60's. If you are like our family, after spending a week there you will want to own there. I bought a fixed summer week at Blue Ridge Village and we love the resort and area.
