Any news regardoing the timeshare resorts at Lake Lure in the foothills of North Carolina's Blue Ridge Mountain?

Well, that's just grand. I hope it doesn't screw up Foxrun too bad - I just acquired there and wanted to go next August.

Thanks for posting. I saw that on the news. How awful. What a storm Helene was/is.

Makes me very sad. I know something about what they’re going through.

Isn't that kind of up in the mountains? Is it downstream from the dam? I suspect the property may still see some damage due to rain runoff and wind.

The situation in Western North Carolina may be extremely serious and dangerous. The state has declared all roads closed:

CATASTROPHIC TRANSPORTATION IMPACTS IN WESTERN NC
I-40 and I-26 are impassable in multiple locations.
All roads in Western North Carolina should be considered closed.
Motorists should not travel in this area, should not attempt to drive through standing water, and must respect barricades and road closure signs.

The dam held. Water rose over it. I'm wondering why they didn't lower the water in preparation?

This storm spun up from zero to "oh [excrement]" in what, 36 hours? What's North Carolina going to do about a storm that expected to hit Florida and then quickly peter out before hit makes it to the Georgia/North Carolina line.

Welcome to the new normal.

I'm not sure what you mean by this? Hurricanes have been around for centuries and have been causing lots of devastation, at the coasts and inland. Lookup Hurricane Hazel. Lots of flooding in Toronto, way back in 1954.

They had been letting water out of the lake, lowering the levels a foot each day for the past week. It has been raining in NC since Tuesday/wed due to a stalled cold front that was unrelated to Helene.

I remember growing up in Charlotte, NC when we had some hurricanes pass through, one in particular, that were quite nasty. Hurricanes have been ravaging inland areas forever.

I am glad the dam held. I remember going camping to Lake Lure when I was in the Boy Scouts.

I hope Foxrun, Blue Ridge Village, and the other NC mountain resorts faired okay during this storm.

We already paid exhorbitant special assessments at Blue Ridge Village. I cannot imagine what they will do to owners next. It's been SA after SA. Bluegreen is not a communicative management company. Our deedback process hasn't moved forward, we are ignored.

Asheville has been isolated after Helene wrecked roads and knocked out power and cell service

Many years ago when I was working for BofA, we had a week long meeting in Charlotte. Back then, you could get a better air fare if you stayed over a weekend, so I said, "If you pick up the car rental for the extra days, I'll fly out on Friday and sight see until the meeting starting on Monday." They took me up on the offer. I went up to Asheville and a hurricane system had passed through and flooding had contaminated the water supply. Everything was bottled water and this was before there were umpteen brands of bottled water. They were advising against even showering, which I ignored.

That was a good gig, DW and I went down and did a visit to Charleston SC when we had another week long meeting and my boss was gracious enough to invite DW when we went to dinner at a fancy restaurant one night.
