Even if this Captan is reinstated by a military board, this officer career will never be the same. IMHO.

To advance to the take rank he must be confirm by the United States Senate.

If that were to happen and he was not confirmed, that would say a lot more about the US Senate than it would the Captain, imo.

Three days ago I posted this on a friend's Facebook page:

"The best move the Chain of Command (whoever that ends up being) could do is reinstate Cozier as CO of the Roosevelt. Give him the support he needs to run his ship, and let them all get back to the mission at hand."

Here's hoping they let the Captain return to his job, if only so the crew can get through this. Time will tell.

How do you think that fired Captain feel about losing a crew member ?

Remember this a Captain of a Navy ship., is like a shepherd of men. A dedicate Captain does not one to lose; not one crew member on a mission or a voyage.
We all know from our military experiences & backgrounds; their could be and will be some casualty losses during peace times or in war times. IMHO.

Such sad news. My nephew is still under quarantine. He tested negative but worked with others who have tested positive. It is a scary time for the families of those sailors.

It would surprise me to learn that this is the only US Navy ship with C19. It just may be the only one with a Captain willing to piss off DC to save his crew. From where I sit, the guy deserves a medal.

How would this kind of insubordination be seen in a war situation? Is is not unlikely but rather possible that before starting a war an enemy would use biological weapons to provoke panic. What he did was extremely dangerous and could have put his crew in infinitely more danger.

I am pretty sure China is taking notes to everything that is happening now in the US and around the world and a full chapter was written about the actions of this captain and about the public.

Seems like things aren’t quite what we were told. Surprise surprise surprise. No longer even a hint of insubordination.

yes, and there's probably more that we don't know about this incident

Unless one has served in the military, it is impossible to properly describe to a civilian what it's like to be inside that situation. People get to be closer than siblings, and you find yourself doing things for a shipmate you'd never do for the average coworker. The above article doesn't surprise me, but it makes me happy to hear about it. It's all about serving others, with pride.

Navy Leaders Recommend Reinstating Roosevelt Captain Fired Over Virus Warning

Good to hear this. It's what I've been saying all along. Hope he gets his command back.

"But Defense Secretary Mark T. Esper, who was briefed on the recommendations, has asked for more time to consider whether to sign off on the reinstatement of the captain of the nuclear-powered carrier."

"Mr. Esper’s decision to hold up the investigation has surprised Navy officials, who believed that the defense secretary would leave the process in the hands of the military chain of command."

Regardless of the decision, and I hope they do, Navy officials must understand that this all leads back to the chain of command issue.

So what has happened to the crew. There were multiple infections. Have there been more deaths? Or did everybody get infected, have various range of symptoms, recover, and now at back at their duty station?
