Now, if they could find missing MH370, I'd be impressed.

NASA builds spacecraft -- not aircraft.

Voyager 2 was designed as a 5-year mission to tour solar system planets. The fact that it can even communicate with Earth 41 years later from interstellar space (11 billion miles, 16.5 light hours and counting) and should impress anyone.

62% of what I write is satire (just not marked as such).
Of course, it's fantastic.

Daniel Golden was the longest serving NASA Administrator (1992-2001).
I heard him give a talk to a group of pilots in which he discussed NASA's purpose.
The legislation which created NASA in 1958, also gave it aeronautical objectives.*
He took these seriously and predicted that one day, we'd all have flying vehicles.
That they would be as common as cars in our garages. Just like in the Jetsons.

--------------------------------------------------
*(1) The expansion of human knowledge of phenomena in the atmosphere and space;
(2) The improvement of the usefulness, performance, speed, safety, and efficiency of aeronautical and space
vehicles;...
(5) The preservation of the role of the United States as a leader in aeronautical and space science and technology and in the application thereof to the conduct of peaceful activities within and outside the atmosphere.
-- from The National Aeronautics and Space Act of 1958.
